Dharma RC1

November 18th, 2010 theuni

It’s that time again. After an extremely productive DevCon where we hammered out some nasty bugs, we’re proud to announce Dharma Release Candidate 1.

Major fixes since Beta4:

  • A fix for a problem when pausing/seeking. This was known to cause static or erratic behavior on some amplifiers.
  • Beta4 introduced a regression with Linux and Live users that led to broken or choppy playback. Please note that anyone upgrading to RC1 on these platforms is highly advised to remove ~/.asoundrc, and create a new one if you had done so previously.
  • The Bootable LiveCD script is now much more reliable. What a great way to install to a flash drive!

And a few new features:

  • After adding a source, you are now prompted to set content. This should be much more logical for new users.
  • New icons for the addon browser.

We are nearing release… Download RC1 now and keep the good reports coming. Let’s get Final out the door!

The LiveCD runs with no problems.

After installation on an Asus eeePC 701 the XServer is not running and the init changes to start every second the xserver.

Why when i play a 1080p mkv movie on my mac mini(late 2010), it’s choppy, not only with xbmc i get this choppy playback. When arrive the hardware acceleration support?!?!? Is there a workaround to play 1080p mkv smooth on mac mini?

    tnx.

Yes, i have the same problem. It prevents me to change any audio setting and enable/disable subtitles. The only solution i found is to use the keyboard instead of the OSD.I hope it will be fixed with the next release.

Do we need to make a ticket or something, or does mentioning it here work?
(Can’t disable/enable subtitles, or change audio and have no keyboard)…. running AppleTV Dharma RC1 and Transparency skin.
    Video OSD works fine.

Hmmm… nevermind… seems to work on other skins.

In some folders I don’t get a picutre preview on the directory icon. I think it is because I have less the three or four picuters in that directory.
This also happens in the video directory.
Can this be solved? Can I run a scan to have thumnails loaded on all the folders?

Another issue that would be nice is a jukebox view for music and movies like Boxee. Can this be done?

    Many thanks,

I tried the Dharma release candidate in windows apparently the web interface is having some issues it works part of the time then seems to lock up the application or just blocks it (I did read the docs about the pw issues and firefox). I tried your older stable candidate and noticed the layout tho almost identical is a bit more elegant than the release candidate. I checked out a bunch of your docs and it was difficult to determine how to do some things that could be much more straightforward.. ie like add in a new rss feed. Gmail checker settings didn’t seem to work properly either (you may also want to note the proper format you’re expecting for the username). All these being said I’m not the best coder in the world although I manage. I have coded in python, c++ and java in the past, just not recently. I still remember enough of my python and java to be somewhat useful. How can I help out?

    @vic1ous

I noticed you guys had “Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver” in joystick.Microsoft.Xbox.360.Controller.xml
but my driver is called “Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows” not sure if that could be causing any problems but I figured I would let you guys know

I’ve installed XBMC Live Dharma RC1 on my Asrock ION330HT. I managed to get remote control, wireless network and sound through HDMI working after a quick search in the Forums. Pity it’s not easier for users who are not comfortable with the command line.

I’m struggling to have Samba working. It seems to run, but from my WinXP machine I see the shares but cannot access them: I get prompted for user/password and nothing makes it happy (even using the username@xbmclive format). I’ve seen some answers on the internet but none of the proposals seem to work for me so far.

    Any ideas?
