Follow Up: Breakage
August 31st, 2009
It was mentioned a few days ago that things might get bumpy for a while and a few of you asked to be notified when all the fun was starting. Well, consider yourselves notified.
As of svn rev #22529 the branch has been merged into main. Please be patient as we get things back in line. And again, we ask that you hold off on bug reports and nightly builds until the codebase has stabilized. We know it’s broken.
Update: PPA Users: r22746 has accidentally made its way into the SVN PPA. Please DO NOT upgrade for the reasons listed above. We will remove this revision as soon as possible.
Update 2: SVN PPA is now fixed.
I’ll be happy just if the Surround Sound issue gets fixed so we can stop seeing threads about it in the forums. :D
Will there be a setting either in the gui or advancedsettings.xml that a user will use to choose whether to use DX or OpenLG? Or will this be a no choice conversion to DX for windows users?
We haven’t decided as yet, but currently it’s a compile-time option, and is likely to remain that way at least in the short-term. I suspect in the long term that we’ll switch to DX for windows users by default, however – it just makes more sense.
I think DX would be the way to go as it consumes significantly less CPU. Also it will allow us to start thinking about stuff such as DXVA..
I notice Hardy ain’t supported anymore???
Does the SVN-working-post mean that the rendering abstraction merge was complete? Does this mean we should see some performance improvements?
