There is always next year

July 24th, 2009 Team XBMC

The results are in and unfortunately we didn’t take home any awards from the SourceForge Community Choice Awards. That’s a shame, because we really had our eyes on that Best Multimedia title… but there’s always next year. Congratulations to all projects that were nominated, and doubly to the winners. We consider it a great honor to have even been nominated in as many categories as we were, so thanks again to all who voted.

As always, the XBMC team and our great community are hard at work making the best Media Center app on the planet. Keep checking back for the latest features and updates; it gets better every day.

I agree with Pink Floyd. Don’t feel bad about not winning awards. Your awards should be the joy and appreciation of all your users who love using this project. Keep it up guys, your work is invaluable.

    Zut !

    Bonne continuation ;-)

  4. July 24th, 2009 at 11:18 | #4

Thanks to each contributor for this immense and brilliant project. You’ve won an award in my heart.

  5. July 24th, 2009 at 14:05 | #5

I voted for you. Regardless of category, the two open source apps I use more than any other are XBMC and Firefox, and my kids would attack me if XBMC available for more than a day! Don’t take the lack of winning to mean XBMC isn’t appreciated. It is, and possibly by many people that aren’t really able to cast their vote easily (children). Everyone I know running XBMC does so in part for their little ones.

Hard work bring your own rewards. Not sure…
Toute peine mérite salaire ! Incertain…

Seriously, awards is not the goal. Make value is the goal.
Sérieusement, des awards on s’en branle comme de l’an 40.

You know what you can do, you know what you are capable, it’s your own value through this invaluable software. C’est à vous de savoir ce que vous valez, rien à battre des awards et compagnie, c’est des conneries.

Create your best media center software. We eat the creme of the creme. Don’t forget, that’s life. Want the best, only the best. Faites votre meilleur media center un point c’est tout. Nous on savoure le meilleur.

Let’s working baby and fuck the rest !

    WOW, that is F*CKED UP!

Good job buddies ! You did it great and keep working It’s really appreciated. Actually I don’t think to be able to play my HD and bluray backups with an other media center. (Intel Atom 330 1.6Ghz + Geforce 8400 PCI + Ubuntu). Working so great thanks.

  12. July 25th, 2009 at 22:33 | #12

Regardless what SF judged, XBMC is my best media center app so far.
If it only had analog tv support out of the box and be rock stable and had sound without SDL quickrs and pasuspender on KDE4, would be the perfect one.

Bah! I think for multimedia EDITING audacity is nice, but for PLAYBACK hands down nothing beats XBMC. It was the ONLY reason I bought an XBOX! haha.

Unbelievable!! Everywhere I go, someone has heard of or is using XBMC… Everyone who doesn’t know XBMC and sees it for the first time is blown away by it.. And no Award this year??!?!?

Well let me tell you that your work is highly appreciated by the users and I sure will vote next year and hope you will win big time then, it is highly deserved!!!

This doesn’t make any sense to me. XBMC is hands down one of the best, if not THE BEST, Media Centre app out there.

Besides a fabulous interface, and the ability to play almost any type of media file I throw at it, it works well and with little fiddling.

I bow to all who have contributed to this excellent project, you have my full support guys and you deserve recognition for your efforts!

XBMC is the best media software hands down, it runs on two XBOX’s at home everyday. The kids and I would be lost without it. I also use it everyday on the PC at work for music.

I voted on XBMC being the best multimedia. But at least, XBMC was nominated and it’s outthere, making probably millions of people happier. I am one. Thanks a lot for all your efforts on this awesome program. The team is amazing. Keep up the marvelous work you guys are doing. We REALLY appreciate. Best regards from Brazil.

Ofcourse XBMC should have won… Every honest people should admit this!!!
… Audacity is a great program… but I mean… come on… XBMC is the best application concerning Audio/Video/Multimedia/… It’s an example of how open-source projects can be better technically and visually than commercial applications!!!

Keep up the good works XBMC team. You can be proud on all the work you’ve done…!!!

You guys will always have my vote!!!

    Thanks…

I back up what everyone said – the real win is in being nominated at all. As with chef’s awards… the exact winner is personal taste, but being nominated makes you one of the standout few among millions of applications!

In a way I feal partly responsible. I truly believe XBMC is the best multimedia app, but I didn’t vote. You guys rock and I appreciate all the hard work that went into XBMC.

You guys are winners in my book. Keep up the good work XBMC Team. I will forever support you and be a fan!!!!

  37. August 5th, 2009 at 12:02 | #37

Well quite a few of our members from hifivision.com feel that XBMC simply rocks – and though we agree on a few rough edges (that can be fixed like lower CPU usage for h264 movies out of the box), we also believe they can be fixed.
And wrt to awards you can believe they are just a shot in the arm – well then again with the kind of support xbmc is garnering – it is a winner all the way.

Three cheers to the xbmc team – guys you all rock.
