XBMC 9.04.1 Released

May 27th, 2009 Team XBMC

A few bugs managed to slip into the XBMC Media Center 9.04 (Babylon) final release, so we decided to do a quick update. This maintenance release addresses those glaring Babylon issues as well as some other things that we have fixed since. No new features are present here, this is strictly a bug fix release. As always, you can grab the latest version here or from the PPAs. Note: We had a bit of a problem upon initial this release, so some builds have been repacked as a result.

For those interested, here is a brief changelog:

  • Updated the web scrapers
  • Fixed segfault when clicking on either a Video or Music source which contains a malformed .pls file
  • Shoutcast had two “..” paths
  • Typo caused VobSub subtitles to render at incorrect timestamps (and possibly crash XBMC)
  • Diffuse texture used the wrong coordinates for orientation when scalediffuse=”false” was specified
  • Reset LCD dim after resuming from suspend
  • HDHomeRun was crashing when browsing tuners
  • Main title DVD/ISO rips did not return to GUI when playback finished
  • XBMC would suspend directly after resume when suspend time > shutdown time
  • Speed up RAW image loading and handle more file extensions
  • Better WAV handling on 64-bit operating-systems
  • Metadata from NFO files not used unless default scraper is the same as the URL in the NFO
  • H.264 video and AAC audio streamed over RTMP memory leak and video FPS problem
  • [OSX] EventServer could be started multiple times on Mac and Apple TV
  • [LINUX] RAW image loading was broken
  • [LINUX] Startup.xml was not loaded
  • [LINUX] Some plugins were crashing on 64bit
  • [WIN32] Updated: ImageLib.dll
  • [WIN32] Fixed raw image loading
  • [WIN32] XBMC crashed on playing media or no sound with MP3 and video files
  • [WIN32] XBMC would crash before the OpenGL warning pop-up message was shown

While you are brimming with XBMC Media Center love and excitement, show your appreciation by nominating us for the SourceForge 2009 Community Choice Awards, it only takes a minute, and we really appriciate everyone who participates.

Hi the beta mentions better hd support for nvidia cards on linux. Is there an improvement for hd on windows. use mainly external player at the moment since vlc player runs smoother.
otherwise fantastic mediaplayer and organizer :)

On AppleTV, I cannot see any movies because of bad decoding. It is similar to 9.04 on Mac version. Is it same packaging problem?

Previous version was PPC compatible this one isn’t only intel…. :(

    Two things…

    1) Still waiting for a suitable skin for a standard television. Right now, we can’t read anything on a TV screen. And I tryed tweeting the fonts and playing with the current skin. Nothing does it.

    2) Simpler interface – Right now, it is not Wife approved. It’s becoming too complicated. Just a simple Front Row like usability would be great… Please dont say a word about xTV. It doesn’t work on the current XBMC.

    Besida all that.. great project.

In reply to post #10: Check out the latest Aeon skin, definitely wife approved! Maybe this should be shipped as a secondary skin in the Live version, whenever it’s finished?

@Genlog- MKV has been supported for Windows and Linux out of the box for a long time.

@Mackan- Although very popular, Aeon’s sheer size makes it hard to include.

@Yan – Still waiting eagerly for EX from Team Blackbolt. It sure looks wife approved. :D My fiancĂ© manages PM3 nicely though, but I too want a sleek and stylish skin that looks better on my 77″ projection screen.

This one is just for Mac Intel, for Mac PPC, none?

PM3.HD is a fine skin for those who have a fancy TV setup. I want to love Aeon, but the new version just isn’t as stable on the xbox as the PM3.HD skin.

How do I download the Mac OS X PPC version? The only version available from the download page is “XBMC_for_Mac-9.04.1-repack.dmg” which, when started on my iBook G4/1.33GHz returns an error of “You cannot open the applicaiton “XBMC” because it is not supported on this system.” After reading through XBMC’s forum pages, I tried the SourceForge page indicated to have the PPC package, but that page does not load and I cannot find anything other than developmental file packages on SourceForge proper. Thanks.

Absolutely love XBMC – Keep up the excellent work. One issue: everything was working fine at 9.04, now with 9.04.1 NONE of the scrapers work – can’t get movie updates, no music updates and Weather isn’t working… what happened?

Never mind! Firewall was blocking it! Everything’s fine now.

Where can I download the source code for the 9.04.1 release?

I can only find the info the get the latest svn.

Alternatively, what svn release does 9.04.1 correspond to?

Tons of peeps want this for xbox360 as not everyone has Windows Media Center Edition. Why no one has modified this is beyond my belief… I know it was done for old xbox. Is there a reason there isn’t one for the 360. i.e. is it just not possible to get it working? Plenty on the net saying not available for 360 but none actually say why.

I have been using XBMC for about 5 years. Best media center ever! XBMC team rocks. My wife and children love the simple interface.
