Are there other fixes or is this RC only a solution for the video sync bug?

    Thank you!

Great – understand the XBMCubuntu delay, but is this just for a new ISO? Can existing installs do an apt-get update to get RC2?

Quick question: If I install this RC2, since XBMC now supports in app updating, when the final version comes out or an RC3, can I update from within XMBC? or am i going to have to come here to download again? Thanks, and as always great work!!!

Any chance anyone is going to make a up to date XBMC image on http://susestudio.com? It’d be a nice way to customize & install a new version for me :D

Thanks XBMC for the great software, will try this out today!
@Anastrophe, that sounds great. So I should be able to run Beta 3 and then apt-get update & upgrade to rc2? =D

You guys fracking rock! Any chance the shwag merchant will be changed any time soon? Not a big fan if that site.

    Quick fixes are goood :)

I found a sweet little bug in the newest release though: any folder marked to contain movies changes to some other “mode”. They stop shoving the “1-up file” and hide all subfolders. Folders marked as series and music videos do not suffer from this.

I found this bug on Linux, running RC2.0

Sorry if I’m missing something, but it would appear that the download page still has Dharma releases on it. I’m a bit anxious to try this as I haven’t upgraded to Dharma due to the HDMI sound issue with the Acer Aspire, and other machines. Hoping that was solved in Eden.

Since Beta 3 there is no file-extension in the Videos/Files/List
and it shows always the film-name instead of the file-name :-(

(e.g. if I name the file with “…3D SBS.mkv”, this info is lost)

  22. Zilder
    March 2nd, 2012 at 18:11 | #22

@Nachtaktiv: that is the same bug as I have. You are missing any subfolders and the “..” icon too, right? Folders marked as containing movies, now behave like the movie library: no “..” icon, no subfolders, movie titles instead of filenames, and the most importantly: view options (like “media info” in Confluence) normally only available to the movie library are now accessible is these folders.

I found this is a configurable option now. (to use the library name, or the file name, when in file mode.), same with the “..” entry. It too is configurable. Unfortunately, the distribution has it set to use the library name, and not the file name.

    have you tried disabling this?

settings > video > file lists > replace file names with library titles

Congrats. One note though, I’m having vlc 2.0 as an external player for some selected files and it complained that it couldn’t play a file smb://user:pass@some_host/some/path/some_file.ext. According to the fine documentation http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=External_players those URIs are supposed to be translated on Win32 as \\some_host\…

    Am I missing something obvious?

Again, congrats for the release. Can’t wait for the final.

    thanx a lot!
    this is the solution.
translation into german means “show metadata in file-mode”
this “metadata” was a little confusing to me ;-)

Nice, I had not noticed that the file naming thing was optional. I can’t bring the “..” entry back though (should it be in “settings > video > file lists > ??”), and I hate the fact that it hides my subfolders from view.

Why does it show some add-on as “broken”?

  33. March 3rd, 2012 at 06:38 | #33

Crashed after playing file from XBMC Remote on N9

  34. March 3rd, 2012 at 09:26 | #34

Eden introduced a bug for me that wasn’t there in Dharma: my external monitor doesn’t work, or it only works if I lower the resolution. A workaround is to disconnect the monitor while XBMC is running and then reconnect it.

Apparently Eden insists on changing the resolution, even if the target resolution is the same as the one set before launching it, which makes my monitor go black. Is there a way to disable that?

Eden is great. I just have one big problem since beta 1.
When I try to play files from upnp application like ZappoTV on XBMC, it gets locked (app and XBMC) about 30 seconds before start.
I am trying to play a file from XBMC library to the same XBMC. It happens on linux and MAC. I tried another upnp control application and repeats.
If I use a file shared on a WD Live Book NAS it doesn’t happen.
Is anyone else having the same problem?
I will post with more details on forum.

    Settings->Appearance->File List->Show Parent Folder Items = show “..”
Settings->Appearance->File List->Show Hidden Files and Directories = do not hide sub-directories.

It’s not auto playing my movies with external subtitles, it always plays with the internal mkv one. I always have to manually select the external one, even if i stop the movie and resume it.

I’ll take my hat off for all you XBMC wizards!

I’ve tested the Win32, the Ubuntu and the XBMCbuntu versions and I’m very impressed.
Already so close to rock solid, and it’s only in the Beta/RC phase.
The gui feels so much more solid and responsive then the old Dharma, especially on low-power cpus. HD Video playback smooth as silk!

    Great job!

    Settings->Appearance->File List->Show Parent Folder Items = show “..”
Settings->Appearance->File List->Show Hidden Files and Directories = do not hide sub-directories.

Sorry, that had zero effect on the issue: I already had the “Show Hidden Files and Directories” option set and it shows the “..” entries nicely everywhere, except in folders where “contextmenu > set content > This directory contains: Movies” is specefies.

My subfolders are plain nornal folders (i.e. they are not named “.mysubfolder” nor are they marked as hidden on the file system), they just disappear from XBMC when “contextmenu > set content > This directory contains: Movies”. Toggling this setting easily reproduces the issue.

I have found a couple of pretty nasty bugs :-(

I have on an external disc a folder called “Babylon 5 movies”, which includes all the Babylon 5 movies. Every movie is in its own subfolder, and has a nfo file with the CORRECT link to the movie description at themoviedb.org

I went to the main folder (Babylon 5 movies), and selected “Set content” from the context menu. These things happened :

    1. – EVERYTHING from my library was DELETED – all movies, all TV shows. Without any warning
    2. – new movies were added to the library. If you think that the correct Babylon 5 movies were added, think again. Instead of the correct movies, completely different movies were added.
    3. – some of the movies which were added to the library are on a completely different disc
    4. – some “bullshit” movie names were added to the library, they are called

    No Correct Way
    Passport to Love
    Passport to Love
    Passport to Love
    Splitz
to delete ———————– this is seriously added to the library
    Videodrome
    Videodrome
    We Joined the Navy

NONE OF THESE MOVIES CAN BE DELETED !!!

All these errors are reproducable – that means, they happen ALWAYS.

  46. pittrek
    March 4th, 2012 at 14:06 | #46

And one more problem – my own DVD rips which I have in mkv container and they have normal PAL DVD resolution (720×576) are identified as HD and have a “720″ icon in their information screen

  47. pittrek
    March 4th, 2012 at 15:36 | #47

OK I have now done a “clean install” (previously I have reinstalled the RC2 over the previous version), and ALMOST all problems are solved.
The ONLY problem which still persists is the last one – my widescreen rips are identified as HD – 720p

  48. Big BUG!
    March 4th, 2012 at 16:23 | #48

@Indy-Joe: Confirmed. I keep my subs external aswell and I am having the same problem. I really don’t want to re-do all my mkv files and take out all the subs in them. That would be a nightmare. The defrag alone would kill the drive.

Is this intentional or a bug????

Since Beta 3 the Videos/Files option is missing and the ‘watched’ state of many tv shows that has changed back to unwatched.

What is the purpose of MyVideos34-60.db sqlite files? I have 7 of them. This build appears to be updating MyVideos34.db the oldest or smallest of them. Tried just using the latest one but ended up with even more missing content.

Since I upgraded from beta3 to rc2 I keep getting the video stuttering.
    Anyone else?.
