    Previously I was using RC1, and with RC2 I am getting the error, “Audio failed to initialize…check audiosettings” even though my settings have not changed. I have tried to change several options, updated my soundcard (which works with everything except XBMC), performed a clean install, and to no avail. Has anyone else had any similar problems with the audio after installing this update?

    Aside from that, I’d like to thank the whole XBMC team and everyone involved for putting in so much effort.

    What to do when it crashes?
    I’ve reported a bug a month ago: http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/12584 and can’t see any activity there.
    Is there an easy way to disable plugin (I can probably remove plugin file from filesystem or try to edit config files, but that’s last resort, I’d rather disable it from GUI, but don’t know how).

    Regards,
    Robert

    The audio/video bug is still there in RC2. Files play fine on iPad, play fine in Windows Media Player, but not in xbmc. (xvid file)

    Patrick :
    Nice job!

    XBMC is a nice but required some options, such as, minimize and maximize button, audio customization in Music section, equalizer and more sound controlling and filtering option especially category for music, movie, video etc….and also file format support option.

    Anyone else notice that music files sound distorted? I use flac and wma mostly and many music files sound distorted in either format. If I roll back to 10.1 they are totally clean. I have two apple TVs (1G) and it sounds bad on both with eden. I really hope this gets fixed.

    Good work with rc2 so far, but if I activate the vertical blank synchro, like I’ve done it in dharma I can’t play any videofile without stuttering.
    It displays me errors over 1000%. But I want to activate it. What is the problem with it? Why it still worked fine in dharma?

    noticed that every movie that is devided into two CD dont get scrapped.
    king kong – CD2 or any movie that starts with a K all get information the same (25 movies with a Chinese name).
    is it a problem with the scraper?

  9. March 6th, 2012 at 10:31 | #9

    Tried the Eden RC2 I’m god damn lovin’ it!! A couple of issues I had från Dharma were solved so I’m happy. XBMC is extending it’s lead among htpc media players.

    Awesome, you guys released this well fast, I can’t wait until it’s fine, wish better driver support came with the XBMC live version but I suppose that’s more of a Ubuntu issue, than the xbmc team. Every time I do a fresh install on my acer revo, I need to fluff around with wifi drivers :|

    Keep up the good work guys.

    Horrid update.. well down-date if you ask me.

    Lost my entire library, had to rescan the lot and am now missing shows, lost the entire watched history, weather doesnt work, movies and tv eps no longer go to movies or tv eps, the menu options go to a generic listing of options instead of the specified area.

    Yuck, back to the older version and hope I dont lose more.

    Having issues with MP4’s on Eden RC2. The same videos work fine on an exact replica platform which is still running Darma. Setup is exactly the same on both PC’s, Win7 32, Gigabyte MB, NVidia Gforce2 8500 video card using HDMI connection. The platform running Eden also has VLC installed and the mp4 videos play correctly, so it is definitely Eden that is the problem.

    If you have crashes with X/Ubuntu 11.10 (32/64bit) (maybe only Nvidia related) try deinstalling “lightDM” and install “GDM”. This was the only solution which worked for me 100% (ok, lets say for the last ~30 Movies without crashes, before this, I’ve had crashes about every 4-6th Movie).

    Would be nice if someone could confirm this.

    Hi There,

    i am sorry to say it totally blew my library and i had to do a full deinstall first.
    Now it seems to eat up a lot of cpu power and interrupts – switching back to the desktop used
    to work fine while XBMC was still running in the background. Now i have to shut it down first
    because the system is rendered unusuable while XBMC is running. Haven’t done much testing yet
    but the HVSC Sidplayer Plugin doesn’t seem to work anymore either. I am somewhat disppointed
    with it being a RC while the beta worked fine for me. Anyway, if the final version is working out
    fine, i am looking forward to a donation.

    @Darkness
    Are you actually trying to blame the update for your loss? I’m a 50 year old computer Noob who handles a shovel with more skill than a keyboard and have discovered a technique called” backing up your library before an update”
    You go into video settings and with a few clicks you can magically save all your data.fanarts,actors etcetera.
    Try it some time

    @Darkness
    It seems like the RCs use a different (version) database than the betas?

    Few issues that carried over with RC2. Playing videos over the network stutter unless on the original PC. For some reason I am missing a single episode from a TV show. I know it is an RC and still in testing phase. I broke down and installed boxee on the laptop so the videos play without stuttering (hated to do that). Everything else seems to be working great. Once the wireless issue is settled the laptop will get XBMC again. Oh and before anyone else says its the RC it stuttered on the stable version as well 10.1

    Ive upgraded to rc2 and now xbmc crashes and restarts when i try to play HD content 720p and 1080p.
    Regular avi files play normally. Anyone else got the same problem?

    I have the problem where xbmc (win7) crashes when i skipsteps forward during video playback. Anyone else with the same problem?

    I’m also having a problem with vertical blank sync. Video plays ok without it, but once i enable it it starts dropping frames like crazy.

  30. OJ
    March 8th, 2012 at 23:46 | #30

    @OJ
    Looks like it fixes itself by skipping forwards or backwards. Stopped dropping frames and played nicely after that.

    I went back to beta2 because RC1 and RC2 are way too buggy. All my video’s are on a server so RC2 is useless. RC1 has (like RC2 for that matter) audio/video sync issues. I don’t think they are ‘release candidates’ at all. Beta2 is quite good so I stick with that untill you coders have done your magic. Keep it up, xbmc is still the best out there. I will gladly wait a bit more for that.

    I use RC2 now since the release day and everything is working fine on my PC and Apple TV. I use a centralized MySQL database for my videos and also a centralized share for the thumbnails. But there is one problem. If i wan’t to open my videos in file mode the file browser hangs up when i open a folder which contains a few hundred movies. For example i have a folder called action which consits of a multipath smb share that points to different hard disks in my server. I have to kill the process or to reset my apple tv then and in the next time i wan’t to access my folder everything works fine. Does somebody know how i could solve this problem?

    Using XBMC 11RC2 on Win7-64pro , database and videos shared on NAS through mysql. Confluence skin. Using Filmaffinity scraper.

    When add SOME (only few ones) tv_series to the video library, it automatically marks the main folder(poster) with the mark of “seen” and no one chapter(video file) has been seen. When enter the folder, none chapter is marked… Try to mark the folder as not yet seen but the mark keep there….

    I was getting a black screen and audio only some times with RC1 and RC2. And xbmc would stop responding to key presses. Latest unofficial nightly fixed it.

    Love the update, don’t let ungrateful people get you down. I do have a question though…is anyone else having trouble with subtitles embedded in mkv files? Not the hard-coded ones the optional embedded ones. I cant seem to disable them in xbmc anymore. I click on the subtitles icon while playing and it doesn’t look like anything is available.
