XBMC 11.0: Eden Beta 2 available now

January 22nd, 2012 natethomas

xbmcbetaIt’s been a productive few weeks in the race to release Eden. Since Beta 1, unencrypted bluray, dvd player, startup problems in OSX, airplay, subtitle issues, unofficial addon repository installations, and the frustrating TMDB scraper problems that have made it difficult for everyone to scrape new movies have all seen fixes. In addition, a great deal of progress has been made in the new XBMCBuntu build, which should be ready for the next preview release. Finally, all Beta 1 users are encouraged to update immediately to fix a scraper error that causes XBMC to crash.

The same warnings from beta1 still apply. Eden is quite stable already, but don’t forget that it is in beta. Builds for all platforms except XBMCBuntu are uploaded and ready to go. Download the latest in mediacenter goodness right here.

Translators and addon developers, please be sure to send your final pull requests for translations for XBMC and Addons for Eden.

    First…haha…
    Good to see the progress…will try update later on…
    Just as a note: xbmc.org/download still states that it Beta1 is the current one…
    You might fix this before confusion appears…
    cheers,

    The GUI is certainly faster, if only the decoding engines could be speeded up some more. I’m still mystified as to why the default skin isn’t “Transparency.” Far and away superior to the default one. So far the only thing really annoying me is the playlist bug, where you can’t move items around a playlist.

    I love you so much guys. In my opinion, XBMC is the best open source project. You are awesome.

    I have found a scraper problem – “BLUES BROTHERS.iso” is found but “Blues Brothers 2000.iso” isn’t.
    Is there a way I can look at the scraper settings?

    I run XBMC on my Apple TV 1st generation with a CrystalHD Card. Will Eden bring AirPlay support to my old ATV? Any news on CrystalHD Card driver update? What is the most recent and stable driver version! Waiting for Eden release.

    I suppose it’s too much to ask that the Windows memory leak has finally been addressed?

  18. January 22nd, 2012 at 09:29 | #18

    I know I may one of the rare few still running Apple TV first Generation (visualizations worked in 10.XX of XBMC!, but not ATV2) But Eden Beta 1 had an issue where it didn’t fill the screen completely (menus and movies were off center leaving a bar on the right hand side)…was this a known issue and was it fixed in Beta 2?

    Also, Does Eden have a functioning visualizer for APTV2 for music playback? I love XBMC and have been an avid user since the early Xbox days! Keep up the good work!

    Have a look at http://www.xbmcfreak.nl. You can find an Eden beta Live iso over there.

    Can I easily overwrite the beta 1 with keeping my library ? Settings is not an issue .. but re-doing the library everytime takes a lots of time .. especially marking the watched/unwatched stuff afterwards

    @Johnny
    That is really up to personal taste. I for one don’t like transparency since I run a low end atom based htpc and transparency is to slow (at least it was when I tried it) and really doesn’t look like I want my xbmc experience to look. I used neon for a long time, but has found myself loving Xeebo right now. That’s one of the good thing with XBMC, everyone can make it look like they want.

    If you go to http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/ and click win32, you will find the beta2 in there as well as the beta1. The text on the “Get XBMC”-page just isn’t updated.

    Great news but can anyone tell me why I can’t find the ‘Receiver support Dolby TruHD/DTS-HD’ and “Receiver support LCPM Multichannnel’ settings in the audio settings section?

    There’s a problem with iso dvd play. The program doesn’t load menus or the dvd movie. The same with some full blue-ray rip. Bye

    I hoped it was possible to disable dxva for each video seperately. I noticed (and other people too), that single definition videos could display badly (several blocks in images) while playing with ATI videocards. Grt, Rene

    @Johnny :
    I’m still mystified as to why the default skin isn’t “Transparency.” Far and away superior to the default one.

    No dig on Transparency, perhaps it’s matured since I last tried it, however I’ve tried a lot of skins including Transparency and always find myself going back to Confluence for one reason or another… usually due to the lack of a menu option/feature/diagnostic somewhere in the interface.

    If you’re having problems with the mirrors, could be related to dns–when they changed over their mirrors a few weeks back?

    This is stupid. Beta 2 starts up and immediately turns on every system FAN it can get to. CPU and Video card fans go to Max and the system sounds like a jet engine. Thanks for nothing.
