your use of the term "overheat" isn't exactly specific. will it glow red and spew forth smoke?

in my experience, when an xbox overheats things are bad. it doesnt shut down, but the fan that blows out air (or sucks in, i'm not 100% sure) spins very fast and very loudly and the led turns orange blinking. nothing except removing the powerchord can be done at this point.

why this happens is either because it overheats, or buggy software are executed. in some cases, xbmc has been known to cause this. i also believe faulty hardware can trigger this.

just to clarify, the fan blows out air. remember it well because someone asked once @ x-s, whether it would be a good idea to add a fan blowing in. and according to the replys, it's definately not a good idea

also afaik the box does shut itself down if overheated? atleast that's what i read at xbox-scene... i might be wrong though?
