i don't normally watch dvds but recently i had the chance to do so. the dvds in question need you to navigate through menus to watch them so i cannot use xbmc as it has no support for them.

so... i tried dvd region-x. ok, it works fine, and i know it was written so that people could watch dvds without the dvd kit, but use the controller? - bleah.... if you have the dvd kit however, there is no support for it. would that have been too hard to code into the application?

what i eventually had to do was switch back to the original bios and boot up into the ms dash to play the dvd, which naturally works really well.

have i missed something?. is there really no dvd application that *works* and uses the remote?

<!-- fill in path&filename of external dvd player-->
<!-- if empty, xbmc will play any dvd's by itself-->
<dvdplayer>c:\msxboxdash.xbe</dvdplayer>

will use the ms-dash to play dvds if you hit "play dvd" under my videos (if you named the dash as in the example, naturally)

thanks pike,
good idea!. not perfect, but vastly better than the method i use now. that will also solve the problem of the msdash forgetting the time when the xbox is off.
