i was doing a search for other people out there who were using ikonboard as there forum software package after installing it myself using the flat file system, and not the mysql option.

which leads to my question to the admins here. i can obviously see this is a very busy forum and a credit to you guys who run it. but can you please tell me if your using the mysql option or the flat file system on the forum for it's database.

because i have never seen this "ikonboard" forum software package run with so many members using the "flat file" system. and seeing as that's the file system i will also be using over at my forum located here: http://www.garybolton.pwp.blueyonder.../ikonboard.cgi

i was just wondering if you are using the flat file system so i have an example to go off regarding how i can expect it to cope with lots of members if i ever get them. my guess though is your using the mysql option though.

thats the only reason why i'm asking so i have a benchmark to go off if you are using the flat file system.

thanks for the reply, no offence intended but i'm a little surprized you went for ikonboard forum software using a mysql database when you have the likes of phpbb and vbulletin around. ikonboard is very good for a flat file system using perl, maybe one of the best, if not the best. but it would not of been my choice for a mysql database run forum. i would have gone with phpbb instead. or vbulletin if you wanted more features like ikonboard and invision.

but that's just me! like i said no offence intended here, i'm just a little surprised that all.
