They work fine on my other PC but that's only stereo so I assume it's got something to do with the 5.1 soundtrack.

I have the same problem basicly. Enabling idx/sub subtitles allways crashes XBMC for me, .srt subs work fine though.

I get that sometimes with mkv w/ subs.
If I pause the video then enable the unpause, it works ok.

Please open a trac ticket with an attached sample video/subtitle.
I have only a ssa test file which I used for testing libass and it works fine there.

I've just solved this purely by accident.
While messing around with the new refresh rate option I realised that I wan't hearing any navigational sounds while a video was playing even though I'd enabled it ages ago. I checked it was still enabled (which it was) and tried again but still on sounds so I turned it off. I then remembered that this problem appeared to have something to do with audio streams and thought I'd retry it to see if turning off navigational sounds made any difference - lo and behold enabling/disabling subtitles and switching between analogue and digital for every movie worked perfectly without a single crash. Problem solved. |

Turning off skin sounds does'nt solve the idx/subs crash problem for me.
