hi,

i would like to disable games starting automatically when they are the in the dvd drive and i startup xbmc (which is my default gui).

i just want to start games automatically when the chip (aladdin) is disabled and do not want to remove the disc from the drive everytime i start xbmc (because i do not want to connect the games to xbox live accidentally in chip mode).

any hints are more than welcome ...

ron

you can do it right from the xbmc gui, it's under the settings menu and it you can disable auto-run for just about anything, dvds, vcd, photos, music.

well this is not the kind of autostart i mean. i mean that the dvd which is in the drive when i switch the machine on loads automatically. disabling this in the xbmc settings does not work for me.

any other comments?

sorry about that, that's a bios issue then d/l xbtool and a bios and you can edit it so that it won't boot to the dvd's default.xbe by default.

yup only way as kinghowdy0 says is to edit the bios (with xbtool) to not look for "default.xbe" on boot up- this is because all the usual bioses look for the a default.xbe on the dvd drive first before looking for a specified .xbe on the hard drive, in the boot sequence.

use xbtool to change it to something other than default.xbe but if you choose to do this
a) bear in mind this involves bios flashing which is always a little risky particularly if you have single bank cheapmod type mod chip- only recovery from a boobed flash on a cheapmod is hot swapping a chip or installing a new chip (i should know it happened to me )
b) remember the name of the xbe you changed "default" to, so in the event you mess up anything dash related you can always create an evox/xbmc/avalaunch/slayers recovery disc that will let you have ftp access- (remember to edit the default.xbe in the iso to what ever you renamed the xbe in the bios)
