hi everyone,

last week i purchased a component adapter for our modded pal xbox so we could upconvert dvd's to 720p over component using xbmc.

i connected the component adapter and cables to our panasonic ae500 projector, then changed the pal xbox to "ntsc", then enabled 480p, 720p and 1080i in the ms xbox dash. that all worked without any problems... however...

...when enabling 480p, 720p and 1080i the picture on the evolutionx dash (text), games and dvds through xbmc have lots of shadows/ringing/ghosting around them.

the dvd picture produced by xbmc at 720p and 1080i looks amazing, but the ringing/shadowing around all text, objects and screen edges make it basically unwatchable.

turning off 480p, 720p and 1080i in the ms dash gets rid of the shadows/ringing around all text, objects and screen edges, but, to get 720p and 1080i i need to enable them.

anyone have any ideas as to what i might be doing wrong? or how to fix the problem?

thanks in advance.

yes, that's correct.

i was hoping that maybe someone else had experienced a similar problem, or knew what the cause might be.

nope, i use the standard component adapter on my widescreen plasma - no fancy cables and it is sharp. maybe you have a dud adapter or xbox?

i bet you are using the joytech component cable kit. im afraid it's a design issue - nothing your doing. if you switch to the proper ms component/optical cable it will be fine.

joytech know it's an issue.
