it seems more and more dvds are being ripped to xvid now than divx. i personally don't care except that my pc cannot play the newest xvid-encoded videos no matter what version of the codec i have. the xbox plays them fine though.

xvid all the way :d

anomaly, have you tried ffdshow? you can get the leatest version here, once this is installed no need for any of those sucky codec packs which cause more problems than they fix.

also there is the xvid direct show decoder (you may have to force ffdshow disable xvid playback if running these two together) which you can get here along with xvid 1.0 final encoder

if you use a windows pc for video playback then latest ffdshow and latest ac3filter is enough for most people

i like vp6 video encoder or h264 too... with aac audio encoder. this is the best

i voted other. coz i mostly watch mpeg stuff. either svcd or vobs (musicvideos)

hey what are you guys using to convert dvd to divx or xvid? and what about dts audio in the conversion process? is it possible?
