Question So you want to become a XBMC for Xbox developer?

@to all existing a future developers looking to join team-xbmc and/or code for xbmc;

please just go right ahead and start coding, then submit any patches on our sourceforge.net project page for xbmc (link). if you 'prove' that you're skilled (this will be judged by the quality, size and/or quantity of the patches you submit) we at team-xbmc will contact you directly and ask if you like to officially join our team. (reason for that process and you not being able to officially join the xbmc-team right away is that we have had too many people asking to join the team without credits but after joining they did not contribute anything.

basic requirements to code for xbmc: ms xdk, visual studio.net 2003 and a cvs-client to download the xbmc source code.
(we cannot provide you with the xdk or vs.net as those require must be bought, don't ask us where to get illegal copies!)
(on a side-note, no matter what you might have heard, you can not compile xbmc with openxdk, you need microsoft xdk)

more information about the xdk and how-to compile xbmc can be found here:
http://www.xboxmediacenter.de/docs/xdk.txt
http://www.xboxmediacenter.de/docs/w...ource_code.txt
http://www.xboxmediacenter.de/info_faq.htm#03
http://www.xboxmediacenter.de/info_faq.htm#31
http://www.xboxmediacenter.de/info_faq.htm#patches
http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/cgi-bin....;t=3120

if you need any help or like to announce what you're working on please post in our developers forum (that way others can learn from your work and eventual misstakes), ...if you don't know what you like to code we always appriciate bug fixes for existing issues (especialy now during the time before a point release).

ps! if www.xboxmediacenter.com is still down when you read this, please replace above links to the mirror on www.xboxmediacenter.de

happy coding and best wishes from the xbmc-team

i too will be taking an in-depth c++ course this semester (if there ever was such a thing ). i'm familiar with vb, have fooled a little around with directx, got the needed equipment and i would very much like to contribute, in any way, to the development of xbmc.

hello,

i would like to help work on the xbmc project. *i have 10+ years of c/c++ and come from the land of microsoft (seattle, not the company). *been focusing on java the last couple years, but recently helped one of our other products track down some elusive com memory leaks.

i've been trolling sourceforge lately looking for an interesting project to help out on. *i can't think of any project i'd rather work than xbmc! *

i've been using the xbmp for some time and have installed an early dec. build of the xbmc. *my partner is a techie-geek too. we play online games together. i have her full support and can put the time into this project.

cheers,
don

i wouldn't mind helping with the development.

i have an honours degree in computer science and am currently working full time as a software developer. i have almost 4 years of c++ experience, but no experience with directx. however i am quite familar with mfc/com.

i am currently working on a course with .net c#, and am finding it easy to pick up.

i also have an xbox with a matrix modchip, so i don't believe i can run a debug version of a bios.

thanks. (huge xbmp xbmc fan).
