Using Xbox1 remote and mce2005 (prefered). As Jezz X says. If it works with lirc it will work with xbmc. You just will have to create a custom lircmap.xml

old xbox1 remote i use ati driver with.. works fine.

If you are using the xbox 1 remote what receiver do you use? Is it just the xbox dongle adapted to USB?

id say you would use any ir receiver since it is an ir remote.

Since it's actually the ir reciver you need the driver for I would use the XBOX remote dongle. The easy way to do that is to get an Xbox->usb adapter. If you can't it's rather easy to solder a usb cable directly in the dongle
