i wrote my first python script today! *inspired by alx5962 and darkie, i made this tv guide script for the uk. *it grabs the guide data for uk television from the internet and displays it with a channel logo and full program descriptions.

i adapted some code from you guys, hope this is ok.

download here

need your help
============
it needs a little work, as it's not that stable. can anyone help with it? *i think it might be untrapped errors when trying to download the web-page. *occasionally it just freezes up when you change channels.

that's odd, it works fine on mine. *do you have your internet settings and dns configured in your dashboard? *(i.e. do other python scripts that access the net work?)

anybody else have any problems with it? (or able to get it to work)

got it to work, it's real nice. just need some help though, i've been trying to edit it a little to read an australian xml file, i've got all but the time working. the time is listed in this format in the xml i'm using:
Quote:
<programme start="20040415060000 +1000" stop="20040415090000 +1000" channel="channel seven melbourne">
yes it's very ugly, but the time when it starts is in bold. any ideas how to get just that bit out of the tag, or would it require a bit more of a rewrite because the time is actually inside the tag. thanks in advance.
