Hi,
After around revision 9640 of XBMC Linux, Xorg process runs at 99% CPU usage while XBMC is running. In the debug info, frame rate is less than 1fps and CPU is showing 100% in the GUI at all times. Previous builds all ran perfectly and was able to playback 720p x264 content with no issues and in the GUI frame rates where over 70fps and idles under 10% CPU. Is there anything specific in new revisions which would be causing this? glxinfo: http://pastebin.com/m59ef122f Thanks! |

In the terminal window I get the following:
nurgle@UbuntuBOX:~/Desktop/XBMC$ ./XboxMediaCenter *********************************WARN_ONCE******** ************************* File r300_render.c function r300Fallback line 424 Software fallback:ctx->Multisample.Enabled ************************************************** ************************* Try R300_SPAN_DISABLE_LOCKING env var if this hangs. xbmc.log: http://pastebin.com/m4c5a97ca This is using Revision 9691, pre 9640 everything ran superbly! |

Revision 9646 added 2x2 anti anliasing support for cards that support multisample buffers. However it appears that your driver has this support in software which is a bad thing. Maybe it needs to be made into an option.

I've managed to resolve the problem by installing the ATI restricted drivers. Like you say the open source drivers fall back to software rendering.
