Binding a script to a remote control action

is it possible to bind a certain script to an action on a remote control when in a specific screen.

ex: i want to be able to launch a tv guide by using a key on the remote whenever i am in the video section of xbmc and whenever playing a video file.

is this doable?

you have to understand keymapping is specific to each section of xbmc and remote is linked to this keymapping too.
and anyway pad/key controls in python cannot be used while watching a video for example

i think this is really important! *

we're getting to the point now where a lot of these scripts are used every day by some of use, e.g. tv guide..

..so to access them quickly from the main menu is becoming a real priority!

edit - i figured out how to bind a script to a main menu button using skinning, yes i know this is probably really easy for some of you, but it was new to me! see
