i tried the gueux streaming edition, and i've noticed a significantly better responsivity while browsing and playing media (music) from dvds. latest xbmc release is far from be so lightfast: in gueux release folders full of media (and nested, and placed wherever into the disc) opens in less then a second.
it's only a matter of cache settings? or there something else that can be done in compilation? another side-effect of the performance differences is this: if i set the whole 4+ gigs in the dvd as my playlist, it tooks a lot to swap between files browsing and the playlist itself (with playback skipping). in gueux release it's quicker, smoother and happier :-) thanx! |

hem, can be this new entry - 12-04-2004 added: directory cache have something to do with that? elsewhere, can you please please  tell me if it's only a matter of caching or it there are some lower-level difference between the two editions?thanx... |
