mass copy

i am thinking of what would be the best way to synchronize my media files with the ones on my pc...

reason: i have all my mp3s on pc. a modded xbox in my car. from time to time i want to update the car-xbox with the newest music from my pc-drive, so connect it to network ... but...

.. ftp-program is not very comfortable
.. webdrive does not work correctly (due to f: e: ...)
.. problem because of incompatible file/folder names compared to fatx limitations.

could someone give me a hint? which way do you work. as i want to transfer my files once twice a week it is really annoying to rename them manually and copy with ftp prog.

:-(

regards jens

put linux on your xbox, and install rsync - it allows for very efficient incremental file transfers and synchronising

run an rsync server on your pc, with a share point where your music is, then on your xbox, with rsync client, connect and compare/synchronise/download files from the pc via tcp automatically.

a windows port of rsync is here.

it's not related to xbmc, but maybe it will help you

i use vice versa for windows. its a great compare sync backup app. you still need to rename the long filenames though.
