hello
im running a private gallery for my personal pictures at http://gallery.kapsel.dk/ - it would be very very neat if it was possible to browse these pictures and other galleries via xbmc, its one of the most used open-source galleries avalible i think, check the official homepage of 'gallery' at: http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php theres even an rss file for the galleries, that i suppose would make it alot easier reading the different albums etc (check http://gallery.kapsel.dk/rss.php) i would simply love this function, would make xbmc even more perfect, but i can't code :-( /kapsel |

i to would be interested in this. i've been using for gallery for years. if i get time, i might try to see what i can whip up. i've never actually coded in pyton before. my current solution is to extract the files from my gallery server and put them on a windows box and browse them that way with smb share.

okay, so why not install samba on the server you are running the gallery webserver on? and the just connect to that ip...
why does xbmc need a function for that.... the images are savede as jpg, and if they are not, a extract script at the webserver would be alot more simple.. |

i agree with you about running samba, it is a lot easier (that's actually what i do now). i think the neat thing that a gallery python script would give is the album organization and photo captions and such. i'm not saying that xbmc "needs" to intergrate with gallery per say, i just think it would be cool. that's the great think about having python to use with xbmc. it allows our imaginations to run crazy :joker: with features that probably shouldn't be in xbmc in the first place.
i'm also always looking for "make work" projects, and i havn't gotten a chance to "daffle" in python yet . :d i think a gallery script might be a good place to start. rob sullivan |

i agree !
that feature would be very cool. i´m also using gallery for a few years now and the possibility to connect to the gallery via a python script (locally and over ther internet) would be great. maybe someoneof the python developers gets interested in making this project real ?

i think the really great thing about a gallery python script request is that it wasnt posted in the "python scripts support and requests" forum.
