i, among a few others on this board, have noticed the beautiful hi def divx encoded clips on divx.com, and that they play quite wonderful on the xbox at 720p. i've ran several of them, and with very very minimal frame rate loss, if any. i have tried several times to recreate this quality of encode with the divx codec, all times unsuccesful. each time i had been trying to convert transport streams from 1080i to the 720p format, and have varying rates of mishaps. the video's play, however not nearly the same level of quality of those samples on divx.com. has anyone had success in doing it? if so, what were your settings/software used? any information is most appreciated.

use autogk and lower framerate as much as possible (quality %). try several times if necessary! it will eventually work but depending on the source file it wont probably look as good as samples on divx.com...

the source files are uncompressed 1080i captures, transport streams.... unfortunetly i still haven't really had any luck. i've gotten a few encodes to transfer decently, but nothing like the clips on divx.com thus far.

the source really matters the most for the end-result, i imagine divx.com uses real 720p dvd-hd as the source (from the movie-company), and you're using a source which probebly been upsampled from 480p to 1080i by the tv-broadcast-company before airing as hdtv. for tips on how to encode divx recommend browse/search divx.com own forum on video encoding to divx*(ex. search for "hdtv" in there), or doom9's forum on divx encoding (plus their tutorials), or alternativly videohelp.com how-to guides and forums.
