Gamester17 will become famous soon enough
Thumbs up

i missed this myself so thought i post this here fyi, the hd tv (high definition television) standard for europe has now finally (yey!!!) been finalized by eicta. eicta, european industry association for information systems announced on january 19, 2005 its "conditions for hd labelling of display devices" and associated "hd ready" logo. click here to download the eicta announcement press release issued january 19, 2005. click here to download a reference copy of the eicta "hd ready" logo license agreement and the "hd ready" minimum requirements / "eicta conditions for hd labelling of display devices". click here to download the latest version of the frequently asked questions document related to the eicta "hd ready" logo mark.

Quote:
requirements for the label "hd ready":

a display device has to cover the following requirements to be awarded the label “hd ready”:

1. display, display engine:
* *- the minimum native resolution of the display (e.g. lcd, pdp) or
* *display engine (e.g. dlp) is 720 physical lines in wide aspect ratio.

2. video interfaces:

* *the display device accepts hd input via:
* *- analogue ypbpr1, and
* *- dvi or hdmi

* *hd capable inputs accept the following hd video formats:
* *- 1280x720 @ 50 and 60hz progressive (“720p”), and
* *- 1920x1080 @ 50 and 60hz interlaced (“1080i”)

* *the dvi or hdmi input supports content protection (hdcp)

* * * * * *
in conclusion; to be called a hdtv in europe the screen must support 1080i and 720p input and have at least 720p output nativly (both at 50 and 60hz) and also feature analogue ypbpr1 plus dvi or hdmi digital input were one of those digital inputs support hdcp.

...now all that is missing is for a standard to be set on the hd tv-signals too hopefully europe can dicide on one common standard.
