View Full Version : What have i done?
installed xbmc-2005-01-15 in the usual way - default.xbe and the xml config to c:, everything else to apps/xbmc on e: - restarted and xbmc hangs after about 1 or 2 seconds. i can move down maybe 1 or 2 buttons before it dies. how can i get out of this? no ftp but pings fine. running softmod and hotswapped originally - looking like another hotswap :-( but any advice on how to get round this without appreciated.

you may have a script that runs on startup. goto your scripts directory and remove autoexec.py.
otherwise, you'll need to provide us with more details, such as xbmc.log.

yes i'm running the auto mp3 playlist script on startup which doesn't run now. however i have no ftp available when the box hangs. i also now see i have no ping to the box. evox is installed so if there was a way to get that running during the second or so before xbmc hangs it might be a solution.
you're going to have to use an evox boot disc to recover.
thought as much so burnt one but no luck - could have been the cd-r. popped halo in as my mate wanted a game and xbmc kicked back into life - ftp and all. deleted the prev version save files and all seems to be well again. thanks for the help.
gah it now doesn't work again. thought it might have been as my server was down and the autoexec script pulls some mp3s from it - but no luck there after restart.
guess i'll try another evox disk or keep trying with halo again. :-(
