hi there.

it seems that the latest release 01/15 has a little problem finding movies with a foreign title.

example:

batteries not included (german title : das wunder in der 8. strasse) - just false results. the earlier releases of xbmc could handle that fine.

any ideas?

hi,

filename for "batteries not incuded" ist "das wunder in der 8. strasse.avi"

there are also problems with:

"original movie-titel" - "german movie-title/filename"

"army of darkness" - "armee der finsternis.avi"
"the road to el dorado" - "der weg nach el dorado.avi"
"remember the titans" - "gegen jede regel.avi"
"gotcha!" - "gotcha - ein irrer trip.avi"
"jingle all the way" - "versprochen ist versprochen.avi"

this happens only when the german title is different than the original movie title.

hope that's what you wanted to know :)

try searching imdb itself like >
http://www.imdb.com/find?tt....strasse (http://www.imdb.com/find?tt=on;nm=on;mx=20;q=das%20wunder%20in%20der%2 08%20strasse)

these are the results the xbox will get from imdb, i myself cannot find the movie myself on the imdb site.

imdb changed their search and page layout, this is why xbmc needed some changes. but i think that their changes to the search causes your problem. not xbmc's changes.

also, we simply send the filename after some filtering to imdb for search. the word strasse is as foreign to xbmc as the word hello. so it cannot be a bug of xbmc not handling foreign languages, we simply send a text string.

i will look to see how we can make a better search. but it depends on the results imdb give us.

yeah,

seems to be right.

think the "bug" is, that imdb don't list the german title for this one.

a better search...mmmh...i think the only way to solve this problem, is to adding a manual search for movies on imdb or to name the file locally with the original title.

what about a the manual search? it's possible to insert that as an extra option in the xbmc?

the problem is that xbmc searches http://www.imdb.com ... you'll only find german titles there if they are the original titles of the movie. if xbmc searched http://akas.imdb.com finding german titles should not be a problem. perhaps an option to search for "foreign movie titles" would be helpful here.
