View Full Version : Newbiw - media centre autostart and wireless?

sorry for my newbie questions but i have stumbled on the emdic acentre and it looks like fitting my equirements ref the media centre as was looking at the hauppauge media mvp but the xp box media cente has a hdd etc.

anyway - back to my questions.

1. once all the media centre software is uploaded the the xboxes hdd - am i able to get the software to autostart when the xbox is plugged in?

2. anyone know of any wireless options that i can plug tinto the xbox to save mer unning more cat5 cable.

not sure of the autostart but i am using a netgear wireless acces point on my system and aint had any problems

would this wired router also be ok?

its cheap and seems to have gotten good reviews
(not top of the line but for home shoud be ok)

most any wireless bridge should work fine with an xbox. wireless routers have dropped dramatically in the last 6 months. dlink (though not the best brand) i've seen around for 40 cnd. my recommendation for good hardware would be linksys wrt54g/gs router and their wireless bridge. but most bridges and routers will work just fine.

regarding auto-starting xbmc yes it is completely possible. when you turn it on from the front panel xbmc can load. if your wanting to start the xbox via remote it will take a little more effort and extra hardware (you can buy a kit) to do it
