is it possible to implement a magic packet to allow lan users to wake their pcs up remotely?

i currently have my pc with all my media [nearly 300gb of fan-subbed anime] set to suspend to ram because of its huge power drain, and hate walking across my apartment to turn that pc on when i want to watch something.

since i have the str feature set to shut down after only 45 min of inactivity, if i decide to game for a bit, the pc will be off when i am done. it is annoying as hell, especially late at night when i just feel like watching something quickly.

is is possible to make a small magic packet to be sent when accessing the local workgroup? it would be a godsend for people in my position.

thanks for a great product.

you can use python to wake up your machine via wol.

refer to this thread:
http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/cgi-bin....+on+lan (http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.pl?act=st;f=21;t=3881;hl=wake+on+lan)

hint... when searching the forums you'll have better luck if you change the "search from" field since it defaults to only this month and newer.
