hi,
what do you people think about a plugin (or whatever) for xbmc that would allow streaming audio to a shoutcast/icecast server.
of course, this can be done easly using linux on the xbox, but would be nice to have something done for xbmc.
what do you think ?
thanks,
syno
this is something i have been looking for for ages. but have had no bites when posting on this forum :(

the xbox has a mic. why not? i'd like to see it stream. it could be the ultimate little party machine.

it should be possible to set up icecast/ices if you can get them compiled and configured to stream the audio output. i would love the ability to stream any audio output from the xbox.

is there a way to make all audio played on the xbox stream out onto the network?
i play all my music on my xbox and would like to listen to the tunes from a different computer in another room.
it would be cool to be able to have a link to the stream on the web remote control too.
ive looked on google for this but all i can find is people wanting to stream things to their xboxes and not from it. :sniffle:
if its not possible then i think it should be an added feature
icecast, shoutcast, server
no, its not possible. xbmc does not have an internal icecast server. post an rfe on sourceforge.

i posted an rfe on sourceforge when you suggested that but now when i look to see if any progress has been made it is not in the list anymore. perhaps i just do not know how the request process goes. can you point me to where i can find out if there is any progress on this?
thanks :)

please note the bold text in the quoted text bellow! (from our official faq (http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/info_faq.htm#30)):q: where can i request a new feature or function to be implemented in a future release?
a: you can log a new feature/function request in our rfe request (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=87054&atid=581841)
feature tracking system (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=87054&atid=581841), you must register (http://sourceforge.net/account/register.php) register and be logged-in on
sourceforge.net before you can do this. however first remember to
search for existing "feature request's" before logging a new request! you
should take note that we guesstimate that 99% of all 'new' requests xbmc
users post have already been requested before so it is imperative that you
search thoroughly. you can also post a copy of your suggestion here if
you want it open for discussion in the xbmc forums, but again you must
search there too before you post, (we do not like to have to reorganising
duplicate posts).
please respect that your request only counts as a suggestion, there' s no
guarantee that it will implemented soon or ever, know that almost all users
think their own ideas is most important, a very common comment is: "if you
only add these features then xbmc will be perfect for me".
note! only one feature per request (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=508681&group_id=64793&func=browse) and forum thread (http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.pl?act=sf;f=4) is allowed (for
easier manageability).
it would be nice if you could run a radio station from xmbc. so playing music would automatically stream to a shoutcast server

was goin to suggest a feature like this but found this thread, is it possible to do such a feature?
i want to use my xbox as a dj.
i want to be able to stream music over the internet to friends and family.
i also want to be able to have it communicate via irc what track is playing and the address to hear the tracks.
all i can find is how to stream music to the xbox and not from it.
thanks in advance

as far as i am aware this question has been answered before, you cannot stream from the xbox just from the internet or your lan. xbox will not support server software. the only way to transfer files from your xbox is through ftp

hey there,
one question. is it possible to connect the xbmc via a kind of shoutcastserverplugin (like the spacialaudio.com stuff or winamp plugin) to a shoutcastserver.
to understand it better:
i want to make a temporary radiostation where friends of me can tune in the music i'm currently listening. i already have a shoutcastserver running, need only to know if xbmc could make it.
ps: with the webfrontend of the xbmc it is much easier to access the tracks over the internet, than the winampwebfrontendplugin does :)
xbmc does not contain a shoutcast or icecast server. all you can do is continue to run a shoutcast server on your computer, and have the xbox listen to it.
wondering if it's possible to stream music from the xbox, so the xbox would be a shoutcast/ice server. this would be very nice.
also on a side note, has anyone had gui lockups when using the media center from the web. everytime i control it from the browser and i go back to the xbox, it goes black and i can't mess with it anymore from the tv. it just stays black, it doesn't freeze it still plays music but it's just a black screen on tv.

what are you using to control xbmc via the web? the standard web interface, or a third party app like xbmc remote control from nad?

hey guys. nearly 12 months went away since my post. are they any news about it now?
maybe there is a plugin or 3rd party app that can do it? i love xbmp/c for 4 years now, that is the last feature i really miss.
nope. unless there are some python scripts, i dunno.

wouldnt a samber or upnp server have to be installed first in order to get a shoutcast server going

wouldnt a samber or upnp server have to be installed first in order to get a shoutcast server goinghuh? samber?, maybe you mean samba. Anyway, SHOUTcast and ICEcast has nothing to do with UPnP or SAMBA, ...a real SHOUTcast and/or ICEcast server would be needed for them.
