Intermittent sound problem

when i boot my xbox to xbmc i always hear the splash screen sounds but occaisonaly can not hear any audio through xbmc (music, video or games). the problem is not the result of an upgrade or config change. it happens with no change !

i can modify the 'audio output' settings and associated controls to and from analogue / digital and restart but nothing fixes this.

right now i am sufferring no sound except the splash screen. without making any config changes this will start working again perhaps today, perhaps tomorrow.

it's obviously not hardware as i always hear the boot sound, it appears to be a very weird xbmc bug ! any thoughts anyone ?

there is no boot sound in cvs version of xbmc.

try another (less lame) build

pike, thanks for the swift response but i don't know if i understand your reply. i'm running xbmc 12-12 build.

the splash screen i'm talking about is the microsoft one that looks like a green 'flubber' (if you know the film) and the sound accompanies that.

the issue is that without touching the config under xbmc sometimes video / music /game sounds work and sometimes they don't. reboot does not fix. it just comes back over time.
