hi everybody,
i am using xbmc 12/10 and i can connect to xlink kai, i can see arenas and games. but every time i go to a arena and join it (i can see the other players) and hit the button play the game starts up and i go to system link and the lobby is empty.
what am i doing wrong?
i use :
halo 2 game
no firewall
wireless-g broadband router
xlink engine evolution 7
i even tryed to enter the mac adress in de configuration of xlink.
does someone know a solution to my problem?

i'm having exactly the same issue - i'm connecting successfully with kai, that is, i get all of the lobbies, chat, etc. and i get the pop-up notification that i'm connected to the server, but whenever i go to halo, for example, no games ever show up in the system link.
running xp - the xp machine is in the dmz, going through a d-link extreme-g router. the xbox is hardwired to the router, the kai pc is wireless.
tried getting assistance from the kai folks, but they were oddly rude.
anyway...this is the one thing in xbmc that ain't working for me.
same here... have the 2004-12-10 build, eveything works fine until i try play... even chat inside arena
same problem here. pretty frustrating. it used to work, and i haven't changed any settings. the kai threads aren't much help, but http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum....669764d (http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5420&sid=5ef39a47da788ef2423e42eaa669764d) at least talks about the issue. anybody fix this?
i ran kaiui.exe and clicked diagnostic, then ran xbmc and kai, and i got one game to work. after i restarted the xbox to join another game, i saw the game for a split second in halo 2 system link but it wouldn't let me connect.

anyone get past this yet?? i'm having the same problems....
is it happening on other games?
hey guys, you might want to give this a try.
run 'kaiconfig.exe' and check if your network adapter is available in the drop-down box. it should be listed by its actual name, not "autodetect and lock" or "autodetect and don't lock". if you don't see it, select "show dangerous nicks" and check again. if it's still not there, close kaiconfig, download and run this registry fix (http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/binary/nic-registry-fix.zip), then re-launch kaiconfig.exe.
at this point your network adapter should be listed in the drop-down box. select it, click 'ok' and restart xlink.
good luck, i hope this helps!

 * * *i have the same exact problem *i have been through every forum trying to find an answer. its weird because it logs ya in so ya know its connected to the server. i can chat, see arenas/ all games listed when i go to a game and launch ya get nothing it works mabee 2 out of ten times i will see the arenas ex *this sucks *

if your problem is with halo 2 only, then update your xlink software. xlink made a change and halo 2 won't show up unless you upgrade. if you use kaid on your router, you'll have to wait as they have not updated that yet.

if anybody is using kaid and wants to play halo 2, goto the old mode 4 arena and you can play. it's under the halo 2 arena.
i've been able to use xlink via xp without any problems, and kaid works for xbmc... but i'm definitely not getting any other users in any lobbies for system link when using kaid. i have the feeling that when you exit the xbmc, kaid just drops your connection rather than keeping you logged in. if that's not what's happening, can someone maybe illuminate me?
yet another one with the same problem, have been trying to sort this all day, nearly given up now........
this might be for nothing as i only do halo and halo2 with friends of mine close by but...
i'm pretty sure the pal and ntsc versions of halo(2) don't play nice with each other. what are you running and what arena are you in? 90% of the folks in the xbox/fps/halo2/americas arena are using the ntsc version of halo2. if you have the pal version you may not be able to see (or join) an ntsc game.
i could be wrong on this - just thought i'd mention it though.

same exact problem as described above. i tried halo 2 first, didn't work. then i tried project gotham 2 and forza motor....both did not work either.
i don't think this is an xbmc related issue. i have xbmc build 25.12.2005 and everything setup correctly and xlink
just works fine. i just played yesterday farcry instincts on xlink over xbmc.
make sure your network config for the pc where kai is running is correct and also router config, etc. you can temporarily disable firewalls to test if thats the problem.

yea everything is working now. in fact, it started working yesterday a couple hours after i posed in this thread (forgot to give an update because i was posting at xlink too). the weird thing is, i did not change a single thing. i did not re-install xlink, the registry fix, xbmc or mess with my network settings. the only thing that did change was the server that i was connecting too. once i connected to boygenius.co.uk, everything started working. so maybe it's an orbital server issue. i cannot remember the old server i was connecting too, but once i connected to boygenius, everything was fine.

I am using Vonage... is the problem related?
I'm having the same problem as everyone here although I haven't tried Halo 2 yet (and that seems to be where all the players are).
Sorry for the bump in the other thread

I, too, am having this problem after trying to use Kai for the first time in close to a year. The build I was using at that time worked fine.
bripab007 try using kai with the PC UI as it is easier to troubleshoot the reason it will not connect ..
their is also a bug in the PM3 skin at this time that stops kai XBMC from connecting automatically ..

Ya know, I had only tried Forza Motorsport, but when I tried Halo 2, everything worked fine. Go figure. Maybe nobody was actually hosting a game in Forza, and I just didn't realize.
FWIW, I tried to edit my home.xml file for Proj. Mayhem III skin to allow Kai to start on bootup successfully to no avail. For some reason it still won't start unless you turn it off and then back on again.

I was under the impression this had been resolved....
ya someone else just informed me that its fixed in the SVN .. he may be however using an older version ..
grr can't edit ..
forza has Live updates which you may not have .. also i believe that if their in the game playing you have to wait till they return to the lobby before the game shows up .. ask in the chat ..

I'm running version 5/27/2007 of XBMC, and the problem with Kai not starting on boot-up in PM III definitely exists.

That I will verify (as of todays build) there was a previous post somewhere of a "workaround" where you went to settings and disabled Xlink then went all the way to home and back to settings to enable it. After doing this it takes it @ 10 minutes but it finally connects.

I understand the PMIII bug has been addressed in the latest SVN.
However just an FYI if you insist on using an older build (For links WEB version for example).
Check this out, didn't test it myself yet...

Ok, I finally figured this one out!
Once your sure you can run KAI fine on both the PC and XBOX (the PC shows "can be seen...yes" - its connected properly and the XBOX connects to the Kai lobby), also make sure you port forward 3074 UDP to 0.0.0.1 on your router (or any other firewalls). This is the port used for system link traffic ;)
