View Full Version : Auto-backup of XboxMediaCenter.xml
might be a bit overkill but i tend to forget to keep my xboxmediacenter.xml backed up and sometimes forget to exclude it in upgrades. my guess is that i'm not alone in doing this so why not have xbmc do one for you at boot? or maybe in some way relate it to profiles. so when user saves a profile a xboxmediacenter.xml associated to that profile is also saved.
thoughts?

a backup and/ or default xboxmediacenter.xml file would be fine.
if you mess up this file; you'll need to setup every option again by hand. it's time consuming and frustating.
it should be easer to get certain kind of working settings fixed backupped also, so that when you reset xbmc to default, this files are loaded again.
to give an example, ftp is turned off. ip is set to 192.168.x.x.
but my xbox is in the 10.0.x.x. range, so i must everytime change this settings.
but then also kai, video/ audio options.
it's just annoying.
just my two cents...

how about just not deleting your xboxmediacenter.xml and settings.xml files when you upgrade?
instead, just keep the old ones.
it'd pay to check the xboxmediacenter.xml file to make sure you have any new stuff, but it'll work 99.99999% of the time anyway.
then you only need set things up once.
