is it possible to have an avi (divx) with two audio channels one for dts and one for dolby surround, where both channels are available simultaneously without having to switch audo stream in the osd?

i'm not sure if this is an avi encoding issue or a xbmc issue.

i have muxed the two channels (namdub) and can switch between dts and dolby surround via osd but need a simple solution for kids/wife who just need to switch on and watch movies with sound through tv, and don't care about dts or using the surround amp.

i know putting the surround channel on 1st audio stream would make it default, giving me the simple solution needed. however, i'm still interested to know if its possible to have both simultaneously as it seems to be possible for games and for dvd's where both tv sound and dts are available and i can choose which to use without messing arround with the output settings.

thanks

no, you can't have dts and dd on the same audio track.

what you could do is just have it as dts, but switch the audio output from analog <-> digital. when on analog, the dts will be decoded to stereo for output to the tv. when on digital, you'll get the dts passthroughed.

you could then setup a profile to make the switching a few less clicks.
