i just installed a complete 3 piece package from x-addons (lcd-mod, lcd-con, and a blue lcd) and so far have yet to get it to work with xbmc. please help. the blacklit is on just no text.
my details:
v1.4 xbox
x-bit chip
m7 bios
latest release of xbmc oct 6 or whatever
what do i have to do to get it working. example: which modchip type do i choose?

well since no one here helped me i figured it out my self. if you purchased the x-addons lcd-mod and lcd-con plus there blue lcd, make sure to turn the contrast pots on both the lcd-mod and con exactly 90 degrees clockwise as soon as you get it. there are no marks on the pots so if you screw up you are going to be sittn there for a while guessing so do it carefully.

i'm struggling with this as well for a couple of days, i connected my smartxx v2 trough a lcd-con to my blue display. i also have blue light but no text. i put it away for some days because i could not stand it anymore. unforthenatly i don’t undertand (exactly 90 degrees clockwise) i already turned the contrast pots en i really don’t now where / how it should be now, are there any visual indicators?

i'm using an x-bit so i had to use the lcd-mod with my lcd-con. i found that the contrast pot on both the mod and con affect the screen. you use a smart xx v2 wich has a contrast pot on it so i would guess you need to sit down with your box apart but running xbmc and experiment with both pots untill you see text. this is what i had to do and it didnt take too long. as far as i can tell there were no marks on the pots. it sounds stupid but it worked eventually for me, and its worth the effort (the blue looks really cool). good luck

thank you, i will try this later today, at the moment i only see 1 % text. i also think this is an strange way to make this work http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/forums/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif though the only to give me text....

what do you mean you only see 1% of the text? is it really faded or do you see just one letter? that could be a whole different problem.

well i could see that the lcd was not dead, there was some dim activity. finally tonight i got it working turning the pot-meters folowing your tips. also others where supporting but it turned out that i had to use the pot on the smartxx
