are you using a wireless network?
i had that problem when i used d-link wireless stuff.
made me so mad that i throwed it all out and bought netgear instead :d
anyway, it seems to have to do with if the network is interrupted somehow. i think i asked a developer a while back and i'm not sure whether it was a problem with xbmc or an underlying network stack problem.
for example, if you quickly unplug and plug in your network cable while playing a movie, it won't resume it.
i think i even managed to reproduce the "skipping to next cd" while doing this.

its not the network its the hard drive that lags.
basically when i play a movie(non streaming) and it gets to cd2 is when it starts. not cd1. if i stop and unstack it doesn't do it anymore.
