i've been working on installing the mod chip and getting xbmc up and running for most of the day now, i'm missing something and was hoping for someone with a clear head to check out what i have been doing.

the xbox is a version 1.0. *i installed the xenium ice modchip and booted into the xenium os. *i upgraded the os to the newest, os2beta2 just fine.

with the xenium, i ftp'd in and copied xbmc into e:\apps\xbmc after modifying the *.xml file to reflect that path. *then i also copied the *.xml file along with the default.xbe file to c:\. *i renamed default.xbe to xboxdash.xbe and removed the orginal xboxdash.xbe.

from everything that i have read, i should just be able to go into xenium's launch menu and kick off the retail kernel as if i was loading the default xbox dash, this should then find xboxdash.xbe and launch that... since this file is now a xbmc file, xbmc should load.

am i missing something obvious here? *i've read everything i could find on the xenium chip / os with xbmc and haven't really found anything affirming what i'm assuming above.

you missed a vital point; you must flash the modchip with a hacked ms-bios and use/launch that, don't ask us where to get one!
(you cannot run xbmc with/from a linux-bios which is what the xenium-os is, nor can you run it with/from xbox default bios).

ps! if you need futher assistance in this please first read www.xbox-scene.com's (http://www.xbox-scene.com) tutorials, then post specific question in x-s forums (http://forums.xbox-scene.com)

thanks gamester17, five minutes after reading your reply and a little searching online and i'm looking at xbmc on my tv right now.

i knew it must've been something that i just didn't get / understand.

thanks again for the reality check...
