symbols will be added when i or some other dev gets the chance.

it's on the todo list, albeit not a super-high priority.

you can manually edit your kai name in the settings.xml file hidden away within the xbmc save folder (tdata/0face008) for now.

would be nice if the virtual keyboard supported characters like (!@#$%^&*()_+{}[];':",./<>?\|) , because i connot add my xlink kai tag to xbmc, my tag has underscores and they dont seem to be available.
thnx

??? i am confused then i had an older version of xbmc... july sometime i think... anyway, in it i had the option for symbols in the onscreen keyboard... here it is suggested they *will* be added... so what happened to them? and why do they need to be "added" if they were once already there? this one is driveing me bonkers, i need those symbols for the period! when i move files arround sometimes i need to rename a default.xbe to default.bak or in the case of updateing my xbmc default.xbe to xbmcdash.xbe i cant do it on the xbox, it is several extra steps i have to do to get it done on the pc then transfer them, and i dont have the luxury of fpt like everyone else. it is a matter of convienance. anyway. just wanted to add my two bits.

the period is there (or has been for a few days at least).

the reason that symbols were there a long time ago and now aren't is because we are using a new, skinnable keyboard.

when someone has time to do it, symbols will be added.

character input thru virtual keyboard, such as ,./<>?;':"[]{}=-+_)(*&^%$#@!~` , maybe adding a third shift button or something to access those characters.

would be nice thanx

my username on kia is -spud- but the keyboard in xbmc doesn't have the option to put the dashes on either side of my name. what's the quickest way around this?

hmmm change your user name :)

try putting the kai settings back in the xml file (not sure if this will still work) otherwise this is probably classified as a bug.

symbol support is almost done for the virtual keyboard.

we are in a feature freeze (and skin freeze) and the support for symbols requires additional stuff added to the skin.

will likely add it anyway, as most skinners use the project mayhem keyboard anyway, and on top of that, it's not a huge issue if it's not there in the other skins anyway.

just got to sort out on particular character that is being unfriendly.

it's in cvs now - please test and let me know if there's anything that needs changing.

i have only included symbols that are within ascii values less than 127. this includes all symbols on a us keyboard.

its a very small and niggly request but i still thinks it worthwhile

when editing strings (for instance, smb paths) it would be nice if the del key worked
