Transparency! - A Fanart Skin v1.03
It's been a month since the last release, so it's time for an update......and it's a big one this time.
Transparency! is based on the PM3.HD skin and to take it to the next level i felt it was necessary (and got numerous requests to do so) to give it a full redesign.
Almost all of the old textures are gone and from now on Transparency! will have it's on set of icons, fonts, textures, sounds and color-theme.
Also most of the default backgrounds and the genre icon sets have been replaced with fresh ones.
What else is new ?
- A new slide view for movies (like in Aeon & The Operation MOD, but i've added slide & zoom animations to it) (see next post)
- Also there's a new animated view for pictures: polaroid (see next post)
- Watch trailers in a preview window (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49915) in the fanart view (see next post)
- A fanart view for 'now playing'
- A fanart view for games
- Recently added items on the home screen (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53396)
- 800 new studio icons
- 125 new record label logo's (thanx Ninjamawwe)
- Favourites can now be added to the main menu
- Added open/close animations to the context menu and info windows
- Animated backgrounds (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=54352) with slide and zoom effects
- A progressbar in music fanart view that will appear when you start playing a song
One small note: in the previous version, the video button in the home menu would take you to the video section in filemode, i've changed it to library mode.
You can adjust this in skin settings if you want to get the old behavior back.
note: Transparency! does not work with the stable 9.04.1 release of xbmc, you'll need a svn/development build of xbmc!

What is Transparency!? Short answer: a fanart skin. The main goal of Transparency! is showing your fanart, fullscreen, in all of the views, all of the time.
Besides this, it also tries to support every neat new feature xbmc has to offer. To save everyone a lot of time and trouble hacking the xml code themselves,
all of these new features are already included in the skin, pre-configured and enabled by default (wherever possible).

Here's a short rundown on the new features in Transparency! v1.00.
- You now have the option to browse your movies in a slide view.
It's an animated view that will gradually slide and zoom the covers towards the center of the screen
After a short delay, a movie info section will appear on the center of the screen, with all the movie details:
- If there's a trailer available for a certain movie, you'll notice a trailer icon in fanart view.
This icon is selectable and will start the trailer in a preview window.
During the playback of the trailer, you can continue to browse your movie collection:
- A new view for Pictures: Polaroid
It's like looking at your pictures the old-fashoned way, having a pack of photo's in your hand
and tossing them away one-by-one:
- Animated Backgrounds
There's an option to add slide and zoom effects to your background images in Transparency!
It will work with all the backgrounds in the Home Screen:
Settings > Skin Settings > Backgrounds > Animate Home Backgrounds
This effect is also available for multi-image configurations in all other views:
Settings > Skin Settings > Backgrounds > Animate Other Backgrounds
From 0.27 all the way to 1.00! That's quite a leap. :grin: Thanks again for your hard work, I can't wait to go home & try this out.

I have 2 Aeon installations on my system, one is svn from 2 months ago and the other one was checked out a couple of days ago.
If i switch to the older version all is fine, but if i switch to the recent one the views are sometimes messed up. Restarting xbmc fixes it for me though.
Having to reinstall Aeon seems highly unlikely to me ?

Excellent update ronie. One thing i noticed though, when using clearart and pausing a video the clearart image is to low on the screen. Pushing "i" the image displays correctly. Just a small bug, the rest of the skin is brilliant. Thanks for all your hard work. :)

I had same thing with mimeedia, when I switched from Aeon, Transparency!, and went to minimeedia it felt like I was in kiosk mode I couldn't switch views, etc...happened 60% of the time. A simple restart fixed it though.

When you go to the Settings section, is the background all black? I've experienced this and sometimes even the background of the File Manager is blacked out and the shutdown menu is missing buttons that I've set. sometimes I lose the button to restart XBMC, so I just go to filemanager and navigate to the default.xbe for xbmc and click it which does the same thing.
I'll try to do some troubleshooting on my own to see if I can get it to replicate, but it seems pretty random. I'm using an Xbox, so I'm thinking it may be a memory issue, but that's just a guess.
Gotta go for the weekend and I can't upload a log since it's not currently messed up. go figure.

I also have noticed the exact same thing (black screen, buttons missing from shutdown menu) and im running linux with plenty of ram. Tbh i thought it was something at my end because it was so random. So far i have not yet been able to trace the cause.

looks like there's an issue reading the skin settings when changing skins.
check if there's anything odd in guisettings.xml (in the userdata folder).
i just found out mine contained some strange characters for certain skin settings, so maybe this was causing the issue....
edit: scratch that. started with a fresh guisetting.xml and the issue's still there.

ronie, did you notice that in Horizontal view (for the Home screen), there are two entries for "Scripts"?
Also I can't seem to locate all the other plugins (Music, Pictures,etc). The only thing under scripts for me is Apple Trailers and Open subtitles.

here's a fix: Home.xml (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?cy2zunmg0nk)
just put it in the 720p folder, it'll overwrite the current Home.xml

yep, these things are not controlled by the skin. all the content is filled by xbmc.

you're probably installing the skin the wrong folder.
for intsance Transparency! should be in Skins/Transparency! and not something like Skins/Transparency!/Transparency!
this is the most likely issue that causes the error message you're getting.

You can enable this feature in this way: Settings > Skin Settings > General > Enable ClearArt for TV Show Episodes
Also enter the path to your main TV Shows folder below.
(e.g. /home/xbmc/Media/TV Shows)
Put a semi-transparent image of a certain TV Show in the folder of that TV Show. The filename of the image should be: clearart.png
(e.g. /home/xbmc/Media/TV Shows/House/clearart.png)

2 quick things i noticed:
1) when turning off the 'newly added' notifications, the 'New' Box is still on the homepage even though the info is gone
2) after changing the font from Default to Arial, the time at the bottom of the homepage has the 'AM/PM' cutoff

One question, is there any way to increase the opacity of some of the menu and information elements? Sometimes it can be hard to read the white text in them when the background image being shown is also a light color. Making these elements less transparent would help make them more readable.

I have downloaded them, cleared the library, updated it... but still no trailer icon.

Possible bug? or am I doing something wrong?
I have enabled both Movies and Videos. I had added the library hide mod to hide the library button (but result doesn not change even with original files)
I want movies to be only Library and Videos to be file only.
Every time I enter Videos it is back again to the library mode and Slide.
I have tried to change it to library off and Fanart but when I go back to home and back to videos... it's again as Movies.
The option: videos use file mode is OFF
EDIT: with 0.27 it was working with the same configuration.

I've an issue with the cdart-funtion:
My folder structure is Genre\Artist\Artist - Album.
So the cdart.png is never visible in visualization, cause the path in the xml points to [musicfolder]/[artist]/[album].
Is there a way to modify the xml, so that the complete path is read from the library?

seems reasonable, problem is i don't have any music videos myself, so i need a little time to test things and see what's works best.

there's no option for that at the moment, but i'll see if it's possible to make a skin setting for it. i'll add it to my todo list.

yes, use <enable>Skin.HasSetting(foo)</enable> instead of <visible>Skin.HasSetting(foo)</visible> and remove the slide animations you've added to the buttons below.

i'm pretty happy with the current one, so i won't be looking for any others.
if you have a font that you think should be included, just post a link and i'll check it out.
remember it's gotta be a free font and needs to have proper support for foreign languages / special characters (most free fonts fail miserably at this point).

nope that's currently not possible in xbmc.
there's a feature request (http://xbmc.org/trac/ticket/6816) for it, so hopefully one day things will change.

ronie, The bug causing the black screen in settings and missing buttons from shutdown menu doesn't happen when changing skins. It just happens randomly when using transparency. I only use transparency and pm3hd so i havent experienced the bug caused by changing skins. I'll try and get a screenshot tonight.

Absolutely wonderful skin - strikes a great balance between looking dead flashy and actually - lawks-a-lawdy - working really nicely on the Xbox. :)
One thing - my media's all over the shop with no parent folder for TV shows etc. So theoretically I can't use clearart.
However I've worked round it by setting the TV show folder path to F:/Videos/TV Shows, then created a folder for each show that just contains each clearart.png. Bit of a ballache setting it all up but it works....sort of. The clearart only appears when I press info, not when I pause it, yet the FAQ says it should show up on either.
Is this an Xbox limitation, is it something to do with my fuzzy workaround to get it working, or is it an oversight?

Bit of a ballache setting it all up but it works....sort of. The clearart only appears when I press info, not when I pause it, yet the FAQ says it should show up on either.
Is this an Xbox limitation, is it something to do with my fuzzy workaround to get it working, or is it an oversight?
it should work both ways, on the info screen and on pause.

ronie, The bug causing the black screen in settings and missing buttons from shutdown menu doesn't happen when changing skins. It just happens randomly when using transparency. I only use transparency and pm3hd so i havent experienced the bug caused by changing skins. I'll try and get a screenshot tonight.

Just one thing - I was using 0.27 previously which worked flawlessly, but since switching to v1.00 XBMC has hard locked on me a couple of times when returning to the home screen. In fact, it did it the very first time I launched XBMC, and has done it once or twice since - sadly neither time has left anything interesting logged in the xbmc.log, and I haven't been able to reproduce it with debug logging enabled :(
Actually I'm not sure XBMC has locked, but it's stopped responding to keypresses (remote or keyboard) and stopped updating the screen (the clock stops) - but it's using 0% CPU.

I'm going to try a newer build of XBMC (I'm still using r21138 from Jun 19th) in case it's that, and if all else fails I'll nuke my guisettings.xml (nooo *cries* ) and see if that cures it, in case it's a holdover from 0.27..
I wonder if it's a problem specific to the Mac? Maybe even to the Intel GMA chipset in my Mini - I'll give it a bash on my NVidia MBP as well, just in case.
Oh yes - one last thing :) Not a usability thing and probably personal taste, but.. I find the switch from the pristine clean 'Movies' background to the post-apocalyptic desolation of the 'TV Shows' background a little jarring. Don't get me wrong, I like both, I just feel like a consistent 'theme' would work better from an aesthetic point of view.

the only difference with v0.27 is i used less jpeg compression, so the files will be a bit bigger.
all backgrounds are in Skin/Transparency!/images/backgrounds, you can compress them a bit more or scale them down, to see if they'll load faster in the skin.
i already resize it to 960x540, but it still happen

Thanks for the great skin, I have few problems with it ,
1- I don't see any background in any section at all. Only black screen with menu buttons. I have the images folder in transparency folder under skin directory in xbmc folder.
2- No thumbnails at all when I use (Files mode) in movies or videos.
3 - Mouse is not working in (slide) , works fine in other views.
4- When I click video button it directs me to movies !
and I can't find "Add source" option under videos menu.
I hope u can help me

@ costa: what version of XBMC do you have? try updating it to something more recent. it sounds like you've got an old version that isn't compatible with Transparency. You need something more recent than the stable builds for it to work.

Cheers, i only have a hackingtosh installation to test things, but trying it on the 'real thing' would be much more accurate.

The "recently added" module in v0.27a gave a lot of problems on the xbox, that's why i requested it to be switchable in the skin settings. The new optimized code in v1.00 still gives me this behaviour, so i recommend xbox users to always disable the "recently added" module in order to keep a stable xbmc.
@ ronie, v1.00 has become an absolute beauty. The tiny things i've found were reported and fixed already. Man, you are quick!

Strange! I must have got hold of v0.27, because when I downloaded v1.00 ALOT had changed =) New fonts, new nice round corners on GUI-elements, new cool animations, new views, etc.
I did disable those settings as you recommended to the other poster, but same problem. Will dig some more into it and get back to you tonight; it does not happen for TV-shows. Will check if the same thing happens with another skin as well.

- enable debug logging (in Settings > System)
- exit xbmc
- start xbmc
- browse your movie library (just a few movies)

There should be a bug in the DB management of XBMC.
I deleted the Movies DB, reimported all the info and now it works perfectly!

nope, that's just how native media flagging works. it's trying to load a studio icon, but if there's none available it will be logged as an error.
can somebody post this skin to mediafire or something? downloadlink from the first page takes ages to complete... thanks!

Nope, did not install on top. Actually, I did a complete removal of both the skin and XBMC, and then re-installed everything. That fixed the problem with the fanart =) I'm now running XBMC r21875.
But the lock up problem (when returning to home screen) does not seem to be with the skin, I tried the PM3 skin and the same thing happened!

Nope, did not install on top. Actually, I did a complete removal of both the skin and XBMC, and then re-installed everything. That fixed the problem with the fanart =) I'm now running XBMC r21875.
But the lock up problem (when returning to home screen) does not seem to be with the skin, I tried the PM3 skin and the same thing happened!

I nuked my old SVN build of XBMC (kept my userdata directory, though) and installed a brand new SVN build (I always build 'em myself) and I haven't had the problem since.. so perhaps there was a tweak in the skinning engine I was missing.
On another note - someone else mentioned occasionally that the background to the settings screen disappears? That happened to me the other day - it just.. goes away. Odd, but I can't reliably reproduce it either :(
One thing I can reproduce (and it was a problem in v0.27 too) is if I do this:
Settings->Videos->Player->Configure audio hardware..
Instead of going to the audio hardware page it takes me to the 'Enable debug logging/Shutdown function timer/Shutdown function' page, which is actually under Settings->System->Hardware.
Odd.. and I always have to switch back to PM3.HD to get to the Audio settings page.

could you please elaborate...besides using a 720p skin on 4x3 screen with a terrible overscan, i don't really see what's missing there ?

great, that was really helpful and luckily easy to fix. i've made two other similar fixes in settings and skin settings, so maybe (let's hope) they were responsible for the black background issue and empty skin settings panel too.
i'll upload a combined fixes pack tomorrow.

yep, i remember. sorry it took so long.
i needed some to to figure out how to properly use those animations in xbmc.

nah, it's a bug, it'll only work with a keyboard or remote at the moment.
i've already fixed it, so it'll be in the update pack i'm gonna post tomorrow.

First off I just want to say what a brilliant skin. I've been updating xbmc with the latest builds for some time now but hadn't really messed about with new skins - tried a few but always ended up coming back to good old PM3.HD. I've been thinking for a few months PM3.HD could do with a revamp and omg this has certainly done that! Love the Slide View in movies - and I agree with an earlier post that if it could also have the trailer button that would be perfect.
I've been struggling to get the flagging working on my films, is there any tips? Should I have the metatag setting on in settings? A handful of movies have the flags but the rest don't seem to be scanning in (they are showing up with fanart and everything but no flags) - I'm using latest nightly build on xbox if that helps. All my TV shows have scanned in perfectly.
One other thing, I was having the problem of the skin settings menu not being visible but I since swapped over to PM3.HD and then removed Transparency! (FTP from PC) then reinstalled a fresh copy of Transparency I haven't had the problem... yet!!
Oh just one more thing... not much of my music has any fanart, can anyone recommend a good place to get it from and what size/resolution would be best for xbox? Thanks in advance and great work team.

last time i checked, native media flagging was not supported on the xbox.
work is being done on it and there's a test build available on the 'xbmc nightly builds' site.

both the allmusic and the discogs scraper in xbmc will fetch the fanart for you (if available). if you prefer to use a media manager, Media Info Plus can do this to.

Allmusic didn't seem to find much fanart for my music library, I musst admit I do have a rather weird eclectic taste in music so that could well be the problem - it's probably not all that mainstream! I'll try the manual method, cheers.

there's no setting for it, but if you edit Home.xml and change:

you'll get the desired behaviour. of course, you'll have to turn off the all 'recently added' and the 'show system info' options in skin settings or else they'll overlap.

sorry, it's just way too much work (and code) to make those optional.
it's not a simple matter of switching the cases off, but also the case shadow and the case reflection that are used in some views.
next you'll also have to reposition the cd and dvd covers in several views as they'll look out of place without a case.

Ronie, could you please clarify how to use the clearart. iv enabled it and made a folder on my xbox with my cleararts labled the same as the TV Shows in png format, iv also got a clearart.png in all my TV Show folders over smb, but it dosent seem to pick them up from either. im using a pretty recent xbmc - build 21866 25/7/09, and the new 1.01 version of Transparency! Am i doing something wrong?
Also the new version seems a little less stable on the xbox. from boot if i go into tv shows and start an episode, then stop it and back out and go into settings, the backgrounds dont show and if i select skin settings - non of the settings appear in the middle of the screen (Fonts). also when you go to shutdown, the set options for the shutdown bar are different. Seems to be some memory problem so not much you can do, only it didnt happen in v1.

for me it didn't make sense to have it available for movies.
i thought those banners were only available for tv shows anyway.

the v1.01 update is not a full release, just a few files that needed fixing.

hmmm...seems fine...
one thing comes to mind, you have to make sure the foldername of a certain tv show needs to be exactly the same as the show name listed in xbmc.

all the things you mention have been reported before several times, so they were also present in v1.00. mostly the issues occur after changing skins.
restarting xbmc should clear those issues.
if you can reproduce that error, please let me now, cause i'm dying to squeeze that bug!

I am getting 100% cpu when in library but if I switch to files view it drops down to normal. I have plenty of memory in both views >25MB most of time. This is on latest nightly from 7/27/09 and 1.01 xbox version of your skin. sometimes fanart works in library sometimes not. fresh database as well.
Any ideas?
You can enable this feature in this way: Settings > Skin Settings > General > Enable ClearArt for TV Show Episodes
Also enter the path to your main TV Shows folder below.
(e.g. /home/xbmc/Media/TV Shows)
Put a semi-transparent image of a certain TV Show in the folder of that TV Show. The filename of the image should be: clearart.png
(e.g. /home/xbmc/Media/TV Shows/House/clearart.png)
Can't the pictures be located in a network folder?
Just tested this marvelous skin! This is total ownage, great work there man! Totally love it. Finally some really good use of the TV Show Banners. Great layout in total, nice visuals, smooth motion and good sound effects. The views are great, no complaints about that. It's my new default skin :)

im running xbmc on my xbox and my tv shows are on my vista pc connected via smb. however selecting the clearart path in the skin settings will only alow me to select a local folder. my TV show folders are labled exactly the same as xbmc titles but its still not picking them up.
thats why i tried putting a folder on the xbox with my cleararts labled as the TVSHOW.png and tried linking that in the skin settings but that dont work.
would really like to get this feature working.
anyone know if the xbmc build 21866 25/7/09 supports the feature needed to call clearart or is it just a skin feature that should work on all builds?
my TV shows folder structure is smb:\\T:\TV Shows\Chuck\Season1\Chuck - 1x1 - Pilot.avi and my cleart is placed in the Chuck folder along with fanart etc labled clearart.png

there's a fanart view available in programs, it should recognize both the fanart.jpg and the folder.jpg images.

I am getting 100% cpu when in library but if I switch to files view it drops down to normal. I have plenty of memory in both views >25MB most of time. This is on latest nightly from 7/27/09 and 1.01 xbox version of your skin. sometimes fanart works in library sometimes not. fresh database as well.
Any ideas?
first thing to do (if you haven't already done so) is to restart xbmc.
if the problem persists, check if you have the same issue with other skins.
final thing you could try is to enable debug logging and check if anything out of the ordinary is logged.

Can't the pictures be located in a network folder?
im running xbmc on my xbox and my tv shows are on my vista pc connected via smb. however selecting the clearart path in the skin settings will only alow me to select a local folder. my TV show folders are labled exactly the same as xbmc titles but its still not picking them up.
well, the pictures can be located on a network folder. but the issue is that xbmc won't let you browse to smb drives.
as a workaround, follow these steps:
- in the clear art skin settings, enter a local path (doesn't matter which path, just pick one)
- exit xbmc
- open guisettings.xml (it's in the userdata folder)
- search for this string:
<setting type="string" name="Transparency!.tvshows_folder_path">/home/xbmc/Media/TV Shows/</setting>
- change it to:
<setting type="string" name="Transparency!.tvshows_folder_path">smb://servername/Media/TV Shows/</setting>
or (depending on your setup):
<setting type="string" name="Transparency!.tvshows_folder_path">smb://username:password@servername/Media/TV Shows/</setting>
- start xbmc

ok, i've done some searching on the forum and it turns out xbmc has comics support in the Pictures section only.
i will try if i can make a fanart view for Pictures, if i succeed it will be in one of the future updates.

yep, i've removed the wide-icon view in a couple of places.
for me it didn't make sense to have it available for movies.
i thought those banners were only available for tv shows anyway.
i'll put it back in the next release.
did anyone ever use wide-icon view for programs?
i've removed that one too.
awesome - i've actually created my own wide-icon banners for the various groups of media within my video section (ie: movies, tv, hd movies, documentaries, etc). so would definitely appreciate having that option again.

@ costa: what version of XBMC do you have? try updating it to something more recent. it sounds like you've got an old version that isn't compatible with Transparency. You need something more recent than the stable builds for it to work.

It's working perfectly in Aeon, no fading whatsoever, only in Transparency! ...
Is there kind of a workaround for that?

the player buttons are available in every side menu, so no need to go into skin settings
if you're using a keyboard, you can also hit "TAB" to go to the fullscreen visualization window while playing music.
if you're using a remote, just hit whatever button you've programmed to enter the fullscreen visualization window.

Would you mind uploading a full 1.01 release? Problem is i package a lot of skins for ArchLinux (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?SeB=m&K=xbmc-maintainers), Transparency! as well and need full archives for that. An upgrade package is not usable i'm afraid.

Well the weirdest thing is happening with flags for movies (on xbox), the first 5 to be scanned in are perfect but then after that only studio flags are showing. I've tried deleting library and re-scanning them individually but keep getting the same problem, however I have found a bizarre work-around...
Make sure "extract media metadata information" is unticked in video settings.
Go to your Movies that don't have all the flag information and individually link them to a TV show ONLY DO ABOUT 5 AT A TIME OR ELSE IT WILL KEEP CRASHING WHEN TRYING TO SCAN (takes a little while I know).
Now go back to settings and tick "extract media metadata information".
Go to TV Shows, click on whatever show you linked all the films to and click on ALL SEASONS. The files will now scan properly and you can then remove the link to TV Shows (make sure you untick the metadata setting in video settings again before doing this or else xbox will freeze).
Don't know if it's just me getting this problem or not and whether it's xbox only related but hopefully this may help someone? (I'm on the latest nightly "xbox patched" build btw).

The xbox filesystem doesn't allow the '+' character as well as <>?=:;*| plus the file name must be 42 characters or less. There might be other limitations as well but I'm not very xbox tech savvy.

This would be useful to know the real source of our files (and for the user to check if there is a better source available from time to time).

Just a heads up, I was running into trouble when trying to upload the skin to my xbox. It was hanging on studio flags that have special characters in the name. I had to remove the following flags to get it to ftp.

I see that others have brought this up too. For those who need a quick fix, I just removed the two offending studio flags everything else worked fine.

I had only three files that didnt transfer over due to the special characters in the files, one of the files was Canal+.png. I plan on trying again with CuteFTP to see what happens tonight.
From personal experience, I had a similiar problem with longer files names when transferring to the xbox with FlashFXP and a quick restart and launching of XBMC worked when I tried to re-transfer the files.

i wouldn't mind adding those, but things have to be standardized in a way they work for everyone. there's a discussion going on on this subject here: http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=55072
i will of course add whatever's going to be decided in that thread. :-)
just adding a detection for TS or CAM will probably never be done, as this will lead to many false positives. it will match every movie with TS or CAM in the movie title.
so movies with camera, camper, came, etc in the title will all be flagged as CAM.

I was finally able to collect a debug log where the Settings background becomes black and I lose buttons from the shutdown menu. I'm using an xbox with r21866 and the Transparency bundle for the xbox with the updated 1.01 pack.

Configure 2 accounts.
One is the master
the other is the simple.
On the simple lock the settings.
It should work that the simple one could access and the master lock code is requested only when the user tries to enter in the Settings menu.
Under 0.27 was working fine.
I changed to 1.01 and evey time the home menu is shown the Master Lock prompt cames out.
Can you help me fix it?

choose the 4:3 version and then configure your screen resolution to fit the screen. (settings > Appearance > Screen > Video Calibration)

there is/was an issue with thumbs in the recently added script.
i'm not sure if it's fixed yet, but you can get the latest version here:

edit1: it's caused by bringing up the on screen movie info
edit2: the media flags (although they may not show on the xbox) in the on screen movie info are to blame
edit3: got it! it's the studio flag in the on screen info.
i've been using some workarounds to support both native and skin based flagging.
the skin based flagging is still there just because native is not yet supported on the xbox, otherwise i would already have dropped it.
so the bad news is, to fix this bug, i may have to drop support for skin based flagging....well, for just for the studio logo at least.

a menu will slide in and the top button in this menu will let you choose the view.
in my screenshots i'm using the 'fanart' view.
in the music section it's not possible to display fanart in all sections.
if you go to Music (library mode) > Artists you'll see fanart
but if you go to Music (library mode) > Albums you won't.
it's not supported by xbmc in some places.

Thanks I manged to get it to work, however I have tried to get the fan art to work in music as you have said but I cant get fan art to work I notice if I go into Album info Fanart is there but it is greyed out, Is there something I need to activate in settings or download something???

It doesn't go by downloads, but by votes. You need to get more people to vote your skin up to retake the top slot.
also to prevent cheating you can only vote once per IP address. so i guess that means you need to get a ton of "other" people to vote it up not just the ones who have already voted.

the fanart button is only active in the Artist info window.
the allmusic and discogs scrapers in xbmc will download the fanart (if it's available for the artist). if they can't find any, there's no other option than to do it manually.
just put a fanart.jpg image in every artist's folder.
for this, your music directory structure needs to be like this:
Music/Artist/Album/files
and the fanart image:
Music/Artist/fanart.jpg
if you do it manually, you'll have to delete the musiclabry file after you've added the fanart images and rescan your music collection.

the sequence is
0) user creation
1) set master lock
2) default lock
3) enable progs, script and windows
4) create fresh
5) create fresh media
6) user created
7) enable login
8) login as new user
9) sigh! master code requested
there's a script on the homepage that runs to get the recently added items.
since you've put a lock on scripts, it will trigger the master lock popup.
i haven't tested it myself, but i'm pretty sure this is causing it.

i'm no expert, but as far as i understood it's not possible to detect the language in .srt files ?
it would of course work for embedded subs. i'm doing the best i can to get support for this in xbmc: http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30419&page=59

No, it is not! I was doing this in my windows box with aeon by manually adding the languages in the <studio> tag in the .nfo files... not a elegant solution since it was very particular for Aeon, but there it worked.
But I guess I might find the proper tool to convert my avi+srt files into single mkv files with subs language properly identified... have to look into that :;):

sure, you'll have to create a seperate directory to store all your clearart.
create a subfolder for every tv show in this directory and put the clearart.png image in every tv show subfolder.
Ok here's my opinion on Transparency!
Pro
+ Great visuals
+ Clean Interface
+ Good choice of views
+ All needed features included, plus some eye candy
+ Fast and responsive
+ Nice set of settings, good customization
+ Mouse Support
Cons
- No direct settings for cdArt to stay
- No little 'plot/outline' window when pressing 'i' while movie/show is running
The cons are very small, almost no "con's" whatsoever.
Overall the skin is great. Fast, beautiful, responsive, clean.
Easy to say that its my new favorite skin.

@ Try4Ce. When playing a movie that's been scraped or has an .nfo file, press the "i" button to show the time remaining and then press right. the little "i" icon by the current time is for the movie information. it's working just fine for me.

i agree, it's a weird thing.
the default behaviour of xbmc is to hide the fullscreen info window after 10 seconds.
this is not the skin's fault, it's just how xbmc works.
you can extend the 10 sec. time, by editing advancedsettings.xml (http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Advancedsettings.xml#.3Csonginfoduration.3E )
(note: the info on the wiki is a bit outdated, the default value is 10 secs these days and the max value can be a very large number)
again, this has nothing to do with the skin, it's how things work in xbmc.
if you want to change some of the settings, this can only done by editing advancedsettings.xml
so the weird thing is, on both of my linux pc's and my windows pc, the info window does not go away after 10 seconds...and i didn't put anything in advancedsettings.xml.
now, if you could only take the time the answer my questions i've been asking you here:

Just need a little tip here, I can seem to get my clear-art to show up. I have it enabled in the skin settings. I have a separate directory on my xbox with all of my tv shows clear-art in a properly named tv show folder with a clearArt image in it. But when I pause my show, I get nothing. Did i miss an update? I using 1.01:nod:

Transparency! - Update to v1.02
If you're using Transparency! v1.00 or v1.01, please upgrade to v1.02 by downloading: Transparency! upgrade to v1.02 (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?j2onlm1mduz)
1) Extract the zip file to the 720p subfolder. (it will overwrite some of the existing files)
2) Restart xbmc
This will fix these nasty bugs that have been reported:
- black background in settings
- no fanart (black background) in movies
- empty panel in skin settings
- unable to edit movie title
- missing buttons in shutdown menu
Just in case you still experience one of these bugs after the upgrade, please report them again!

I hate to be that guy again, but it's a deja-vu. (but v1.02 this time)
I just updated to v1.02 and noticed that the dialog box pops up with the letter that you're scrolling past in a list is not sized correctly. If that didn't make any sense, here's a picture (http://i25.tinypic.com/bzvxz.jpg)
I tried it in the movie section and video plugin section and it occurs both places.
