USB Fightstick

I have tried to search everywhere for information on this.

If I connect a USB fightstick to an xbox controller cord will it work with my emulators or will the xbox not recognize the joystick?

Would I have to do more then just splice the wires?

I really want to use a quality fight stick with MAME.
