After upgrading from Atlantis (8.1) to Babylon (9.04.1) I can't access the samba shares on my linux NAS (a D-Link DNS-323).

I had this problem with earlier builds of Babylon except build 20374. See:

http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?p=338192

These are the specs:
XBMC Babylon (9.04.1)
ATV 2.4
Launcher 3.1

XBMC ~/.smb/smb.conf

[global]
lanman auth = yes
name resolve order = bcast host
dos charset = CP850
workgroup = WORKGROUP

DNS 323 /etc/samba/smb.conf
http://pastebin.com/m30cb0e66

xbmc.log (loglevel 3, cleaned out original user/passwd)
http://pastebin.com/m468d321c

XBMC fails with:

unix_err:'16' error : 'Invalid argument'

Fixed it by upgrading the NAS to its latest (beta) firmware (1.08). Can access the shares with XBMC now.

I have the same problem - how is the 1.08 BETA firmware? Seems to be a lot of bugs. Did you lose any data when updating?

Thanks

I didn't loose any data. You might want to wait for the final firmware which will be out within a week according to the dlink forum.

The fix might be that with 1.08 dlink has upgraded from samba 2 to 3. This is of course off-topic for the xbmc forum so lets move any followup to the dlink dns 323 beta forum.

Thanks mauzzz - I think I'll hold off for a week then and grab the final.

Appreciate the help.

Newer versions than 9.04.1 should allow you to use your dns-323 without upgrading.

Just upgrade XBMC.

I upgraded to 1.8 beta bios for DNS-323. I can browse the volume much better now (no weird artifact files) but I still can't play them.

I am running the latest XMBC already- 9.04.1

The DNS-323 has been a tremendous disappointment to me.

9.04.1 is not the latest. DNS has been great for me.

You'll have to provide more details about what doesn't work. Please read my signature to see how to post a problem in a useful manner.

Thanks.
