View Full Version : Associate Movie Extras, documentaries, and other specials to movie in video library?
Just a quicky :) How do people organise the extras that come with DVD-rips such as documentaries, deleted scenes etc into their movie library? There are a few options I could use but wondered what other people's thoughts were on the best way to do it.
i have the same question any solution for this?

You can currently only associate trailers to a movie in the video library, (see discussion for movie trailers => http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22138&highlight=associate).
Submit a feature request for it on trac:

That's an interesting question. How difficult would it be to associate multiple videos to a movie, so that you could either associate deleted scenes as from a dvd or multiple trailers in the case of popular movies that have multiple trailers?

Yes this is quite an importatant one for me too. Just about all DVDs come with some extra video material of some sort. Has any one added a ticket for yet?
that ticket would have to come with a patch as i know none on the team have expressed the slightest interest

Well there you go then. Yadster, I think your best hope at this point is, if you have only one additional file, to rename it is a trailer. If you have multiple additional files, you might look into creating playlists or smart playlists.

Or you can wait to see how the video library changes over the next little while and try to work with that.

Thanks for the replies. What I've decided to do is manually edit them so they all appear in a film documentary folder. Not the easiest option but it groups everything together.
maybe there is a way to add the content to themoviedb site and it automatically gets the info from there. I was thinking much like thetvdb has a section to add specials to it could be done to moviedb as well. Like we can put dvd 1 and dvd 2 option in moviedb, Maybe its possible?
Multiple movie libraries would solve this. Have a separate library for dvd extras and a sort title that covers each movie. So you would have a documentary library with a "group sorted" tag for the Alien Movies, just an example.
Trailers could be handled in the same way, so you could browse trailers in a separate screen.
The real magic comes when you link these multiple libraries together as a relational database so the user can easily skip between the main movie library and the trailers/documentary library.
Even better in the future would be to allow the mixing of multiple media types, so for example Play some music by Eminem then have his "8 mile" movie show up as a link from the artist view. Music videos and music would be another nice thing to link in the same way.
