Hi
Would it be possible to create a screensaver for XMBC that worked as part of a render farm. I - like many people on here have many xboxs (1 for each room in the house, except the bathroom - but im working on that ;) )
Anyway I when I use DVDx it takes approximately 30 hours to do a 2 pass run on my server PC, and about 6 hours on my Laptop.
I was wondering if it would be possible to write a screensaver for XBMC that
1) contacted my server to see if anything needed done
2) downloaded a chunk of the VOB (or whatever) (mabey about 64MB)
3) processed it and converted it into AVI format (Xvid)
4) wrote it back to the server
5) GOTO 1
Then the server would stitch it all back together.
Video processing is a very suited parallel processing apparently (source: google) and 10 1Ghz PCs will process a video much quicker than 1 10Ghz PC (just an example)
If this was possible it would save me sooooooooo much time, as justnow the xbox's are using all that precious processing power to render a 3d blob on the screen when im not using it. Thats a huge waste of 5.8GHz of processing power.
