Hi,
I build a new media center pc based on the Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H motherboard with a onboard Realtek ALC889A HD audio chip. The MC is connected to my Arcam AVR300 receiver. I use the latest XBMC 9.04.1 Live USB drive. All is connected via optical S/PDIF.
The problem: When i start Xbmc my receiver defaults to digital stereo. When i start a MKV movie, it switches to DD5.1 or DTS5.1. But it generates a crackling noise which is very annoying. The same happens when i'm fast forwarding the MKV movie. The receiver switches back to Stereo during forwarding and switches back to DD5.1 or DTS when resuming normal playback. During the switching it makes this weird noise.
Is this a known problem? Does anyone have a fix for this? Is this a XBMC, Motherboard or receiver problem? Any advise would be great!
