View Full Version : Fanart Slideshow in 9.0.4.1
Didn't find much in search so asking here. Is there a way to stop zooming in the slideshow (or fanart slideshow)? I upgraded to 9.0.4.1 part-2 and also tried the latest build.
Most of my fanarts are 1920x1080 in resolution and they look very grainy when zoomed 10x in the slideshow on my 1080p TV. Even at 3x some of them don't look good. The earlier build (19279) seemed fine in this respect as it wasn't zooming much though it had a few other bugs.

Um, the fanart slideshow should not be zooming images at all, other than for the ken burns effects.
Does the wee yellow box in the top right show?
Well, it is the Ken Burns effect but with a bit too much zooming and panning. While panning sometimes it goes completely out of the image and all you can see is the dark screen with the picture covering 0-25% of the screen.
But the extreme zooming is more annoying as it zooms so much that most times you can see only the lips of the person whose full height was in the fanart. And it zooms quite fast too. Isn't there any setting somewhere that could alter the behavior a bit?
Edit: Forgot to mention this, I don't see any yellow box at the top corner.

Certainly sounds like something is going haywire - what are your zoom and pan settings in settings->appearance->slideshow

Slideshow has always needed more attention IMO.
* Example 1: Set screensaver to be slideshow. Ok, fine. So a slideshow should stop when you touch ANY button on the remote right? (like moving a mouse or pressing a key in windows). Nope. It stops when you press stop. (annoying).
* Example 2: I might be wrong (Im using MediaStream), but where did the random slideshow option go? It's not there.

PantsOnFire, your example one was put into XBMC by jmarshall a while ago. I can touch any button and the screensaver slideshow stops.
Randomize in the screensaver is still there.

I think if you hit any two keys, or any key twice, it exits the screensaver, at least I think that's how mine is working. I'll have to double check.
I have the same problem with slideshoow zooming waaay close up, and fast. also it pans so i only see a corner of the picture sometimes. this is a new problem. came with an svn update a week or two back.

Sorry, it took a while to reply as I wanted to try all the skins to make sure I am not missing anything. I don't see any Zoom & Pan settings. Just to be clear I went to Settings > Appearance > Screensaver (no slideshow in any skin). Here is the screenshot -

Thanks! Now I turned the zoom/pan option off and it's much better though a bit of panning & zooming can make things a lot better. There are still some issues now as some images don't stay as long as others (I set 7 sec for each image and 2500ms for transition). Sometimes the previous image is not cleared completely when a new one is displayed and then removed while the previous image is still there.
The pan/zoom effect in the older version was really nice. I wish there was a slider to control the effect instead of an on/off switch.
Exactly same here. I have same settings in Slideshow. Before the pan and zoom was slow and nice, and did not zoom up so close, and did not pan the pictures out of the screen like it does now.
Also the panning is not smooth. its a bit "jumpy" (hard to explain, but the panning speed goes up and down, fast and slow) and that is also new.
