Sorry for the delay in getting this release out but I was cycling from London to Paris last week and that (along with work) has taken up most of my time over the last few weeks.
Still I've managed to get quite a few new features coded, the most obvious of which are the updated Showcase view and the inclusion of media flags. Both of these are still work in progress but they are along the lines of what I'm planning to do so you should get a decent idea of what they're about.
I've also added further alternative fonts to try and please those users that think the current fonts aren't serious enough for a media centre.
The main changes are as follows:
Added: Flag images for different video formats
Added: Flag images for different audio formats
Added: Flag images for different video resolutions
Added: Initial code for video resolution and audio format flags
Added: Small versions of the Dolby Digital flags
Added: Smaller versions of MPAA ratings images to be used in views etc
Added: Displaying of smaller media flags to all views except Waterfall
Added: Another set of alternative fonts to choose from
Added: System background image to be shown behind Login screen
Added: 4 more movie studio logos
Added: 19 more TV network logos
Added: Tobis movie studio logo (thanks to H3lium)

Fixed: Position of Shutdown Timer when profiles and/or locks are active
Fixed: Placement of video player controls when using Minimal Video OSD

Updated: Started work on tidying up the Showcase view

Use Recent Version of XBMC
In order to get the best out of this release you need to be using a version of XBMC built in the in the last day or so (since the changes to XBMC for media flags has only just been added). As yet the media flagging has not been added to a t3ch release so just use the most recent available.
If you do decide to use it without an up to date version of XBMC then you may find that you can't see any of the media flags and none of the backgrounds appear. You have been warned. :shocked:

Genre Poster Packs
In this version I've added support for Genre Poster Packs (such as the one in this thread - Movie Genre Posters (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45361)). Background Images
The skin itself does not contain any real background images since most users will already have a set of background images that they like (for MediaStream and Aeon skins etc) and I assume most users will be using fanart for the Movies and TV Shows anyway.
I have a nice set of custom background images that I use and aim to provide download links so that users can use these if they want.

Don't know if it looks first into your .nfo file. (Think not.)

uhhh if i remove a movie from the database and re-scan .. the flags come up ...

I think .nfo aren't used anymore, xbmc picks that info directly from the files.
Only one thing i've noticed in showcase view, sortletter is overlaping the ratings images (this is not a big problem cause the sortletter hides when not in use).

Also, can you tell us if we need to rescan the library for it to work? or will it pickup the media flags automagically?

I'm still playing about with positioning and will be rewriting most of it before the next release. Need to think about adding all the new info, in text format as well as the missing images, to the info dialogs. Also need to think if I want to include the video codec and aspect ratio info images in any of the views.
Then I need to think about how it'll all get added to the waterfall view, tidy up the info on the high list view for media other than movies, sort out what labels are displayed in the lists for the various media (especially music and episodes), tidy up the look of the clock in the video OSD, ...yada yada yada...
There's still loads of stuff for me to be getting on with but the pleasing thing (from my perspective) is that most of the comments seem to be about preferences and opinions rather than bugs and/or missing features. Means I must be doing something right! :;):

I'm running build 21101 and I dont see the setting to enable it i.e nothing in settings/video/general. Also added new movies to the library and it did not pick up any media flags. Anybody else got this working properly.

by doing that i got video and audio flags on the TV section .. but only video on movies ... i think my nfo files are the ones creating the problem tho

I wouldn't have thought the nfo flags would affect it as they will only be read when you refresh the movie info? Since the media flagging is done without the need to refresh movie info then the nfo file is probably not used - unless you have refreshed (after media flagging occurred) and you also have a media manager that is already creating the xml that will overwrite the new media flagging fields?
Best way to find out would be to remove an nfo file from a movie, remove the movie from XBMC and then update your library to pick it up again and see what you get.

Yep, when you open movies (or tv episodes) it scans the files, finds the relevant info and updates the library accordingly.
I've noticed that if you switch views, like for example to waterfall, only list view shows up, as well as if u switch to list view, only waterfall view shows... i cant switch to any view anymore except waterfall and list... just my 2 cents ;)
EDIT: Correction... dunno how it happened, but reinstalling the skin worked, can now switch to every view. Seriously, it was weird, even after restarting xbmc there was no use, now all works again... but maybe still an issue to look into, might be a random bug or somewhat..

Please have in mind that i KNOW that MiniMeedia is NOT going to post all the flags that Transparency does.
my only problem is that MiniMeedia is only showing up the video flags and ONLY aac for audio in some movies.
any inside in what could be causing this will be appreciated.

You're right, the current version doesn't show all the flags but it should be showing the flags for dts 5.1. Do you know what the ListItem.AudioCodec and ListItem.AudioChannels values are? For MiniMeedia to show the same flags I would expect the values to be dca and 6.
Also are you sure that Transparency skin is DEFINITELY displaying those flags based on the new XBMC media flagging fields and not because of values in the ListItem.Studio field?
EDIT: In the following image that xbs08 recently posted it is showing the dts 5.1 flags so the skin is doing it, just not sure why it isn't for your Planet of the Apes. (It's most likely a different AudioCodec or Transparency skin is still using the Studio field)

This is my first time using MiniMeedia. I liked .86 look and feel but wanted to wait for the next release (.90). Anywho, when I first start XBMC with this skin set, the screen has no text or menus. Once I push a direction, the main menu comes up. The boxes are there for the text, there just isn't any.
Second thing I noticed is in the videos section. When I am browsing through a TV show, the TV show background will be present only during the folder view. When I start scrolling through the episodes, the background changes to the default videos background. This doesn't occur when going through TV Shows and only through Videos.

As far as i can tell Transparency is using both the new XBMC media flagging and an hack to display media flag. It's written in the transparency thread...

That makes sense. I guess Radikaltimes will have to have a look at exactly what the AudioCodec and AudioChannels values are and I can take it from there. (In the next version of the skin I hope to have all media flagging text displayed somewhere within the video info dialog)

I am using a PC...I should have mentioned it. I'll try that tonight.
I use Media Info Plus to set up the pictures and nfo. I don't think it put the folder images at the episode level, just the season image and the tv episode snaps.
This isn't a problem in the TV Shows section so I thought it might have been a bug.

MiniMeedia won't check the studio value for any of the media flags so whatever value is in there is irrelevant for the audio/video flags.
If you edit 720p/Includes.xml and change the code in line 1952 from ListItem.Year to ListItem.AudioCodec. Refresh the skin and see what you see in the list view where the year should be? (For dts it should be dca I think)
You can change it again to show the number of audio channels using ListItem.AudioChannels (should be 6 if audio is 5.1)
When you are done change the code back to ListItem.Year and let me know what you find.

I've fixed it for the next release but if you want it fixed now then update the following code in 720p/IncludesImages.xml on lines 1762 AND 1844:

Yup still not showing in the latest xbox build. Waiting patiently
flagging works for me with svn 21137 and minimeedia 0.9. just turned it on in the options then checked the movies. didn't show up right away but it did after a couple seconds, and have been showing ever since

I would like to suggest the addition of a system button in the shutdown menu.
This button would be visible only when the system button is hidden in home screen.
This way you could turn system button off in home screen and still access your settings if needed.

Small glitch, nothing major, just fyi... Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near my htpc right now to provide screens...
I use Profile/Posters for TV shows. When I'm in List View, (I think it's list view... when the list is in the lower left corner, and the thumb is upper right corner...) the thumb appears to be behind the shadowing box, darkening the thumb.
Sorry, must have missed this when it was originally posted. Has now been fixed for next release.

I thought about this when adding the genres but I don't really think it's practical as it would mean having to add a load more conditional code to the views or having the user setup their own studio images pack where the naming has to be exactly right (not too likely and also wasteful as it would mean a lot of duplicate images).
If it does get added to Transparency skin then I'll have a look at it but not too sure about it myself.

I've coded an option for this in the next release. The animated thumbs won't be included in the skin download (the image pack is about 4 times the size of the whole skin!) but if you download them and place them in the custom weather BG folder then you can toggle between animated and standard weather thumbs.

-Music genre posters.
Have you tried to use this as I think the code I already did for genres should work in videos and music?
-Music Fanart not only in artist.
I guess if that works in any other skin then it should work in MiniMeedia too as it wasn't MiniMeedia that stopped this working in the past but a limitation in XBMC itself.

Not sure this would work too well as it would probably mess up the animations etc. Plus I don't really see why you would want to hide it in one place and then have it in another. Feel free to create a mod to do that but it sounds like a very personal preference to me so not something that should be in the main release of the skin.

As an xbox user I can see the benefit of this as if you remove settings from the home screen then there is no way to access them again (no keyboard) - but I am willing to be proven wrong :-) I edited the DialogButtonMenu.xml and changed the 'info' and 'favourites' to 'settings' and 'file manager' after a few helpful pointers from other minimeedia users. I also had to edit the keymap.xml so that I could access the shutdown menu with the xbox remote. If it's of any help I can post these xmls.
There looks to be room for several more buttons in the shutdown menu and I tried to add some but it was beyond my almost non-existant xml skills. It would be really useful if perhaps settings, file manager, scripts could be added as a permanent shutdown menu feature.
After years of using my xbox and xbmc I finally got around to using the library feature properly and using MiniMeedia it all works swimmingly and looks stunning. Thannks again skunkm0nkee.
Ok, for those who like the animated Weather icons. Working in Home and Weather. :grin:
My weather fanart location (xbox) = F:\weather icons
Is you location different change it (1x) in Home.xml and (4x) in MyWeather.xml
Did also add in weather "TWC" button (again).

??? Why adding the TWC button if it's already in MyWeather.xml.
Just replace your MyWeather.xml and home.xml.
And make sure that your weather icons and script have the right location.
Did test it again and works good !!!
Just wanted to say thanks for making this great skin. I was using MediaStream before, but this is now my favorite. Keep up the good work.

Did add Thumb for directors.
This can also be done for actors, year and studios.
It's easy to do. Only still having problems to show studio flag :mad:
Displaying a Director's Board with studio name is no problem, but I want to have the studio flag in it..!!!

It's not something that is on my immediate list of things to do (mainly since I always navigate by title) but who knows what the future may bring :;):
The studios is probably the most difficult if you want the studio logos. You could trying using the following include:
<include>VideoStudioFlags</include>
and see where that gets you? You'll probably need to place it in group so you can better position and size it but it may be a starting point

But I created thumbs for everything I could, only those damn:mad: library thumbs !!!
