Flac?

i know flac support is broken at the moment. but does anyone know the last release where it was working? my entire collection is flac so at the moment i can't play anything. (ick).

just sent it to you via pm. it isn't much longer then what is above (like 5 lines before it).

it is interesting to note that if i select a flac to play that at first nothing happens, i can still navigate the menus etc. if i select a flac a second time the xbox freezes.

i thought at first it might be an issue with the flac being shared over smb but it isn't, i put a few on a cd and it does the same thing.

i use xbmc cvs 20040821, and this mplayer (http://www.telefonica.net/web2/ezarzone/mplayer.rar)

can you test with this file?

and other files that i test i download from here (http://www.morganleahrecords.com/downloads.html). it work ok!

i've found that sometimes flac files will play sometimes they won't. it's seems pretty random.

i'll attempt to do some testing on the ones i have and post the results.

hey deltop did you find anything? i tried a couple other versions of myplayer but never could find one that worked.

well using an uptodate version of xbmc and both the latest cvs mplayer.dll and ezar2003's dll gives patchy results.

the flac files ezar2003 lists above work "most" of the time. my few flac files work alot of the time but not always.

if you try and play the above flac file it'll work a few times but if you stop and start it you'll pretty soon see mplayer failing to play it.

it's very odd behaviour, not sure why mplayer should fail some of the time but not others when playing the exact same files.

it still works occasionally at best for me... and i don't know how to call up a log to see what mplayer is doing with this.

my entire collection is in flac and it's the most frustrating thing having a track work once every 5 times you try to play it.

i aplogise for not getting back to this thread, same old problems with flac playback here. i can't remember the logs being particularly informative but obviously a coder might think differently.

i believe that problem is known. you're not alone on that one. i find it frustrating too. but i'm sure the developers are doing what they can about it. if it was easy to fix it probably would have been done already.

because of the feature freeze/bug hunt that is currently underway for the next stable release i looked on the sourceforge buglist to see if this was a registered problem. i couldn't seem to find anything though.

does anyone know if this has been submitted as a bug yet? if not does someone want to submit it? i can but i would have to create an account etc etc. if we don't get it in the sourceforge buglist there won't be any chance of us getting this fixed for the next stable release!

same error, played the first three fine and failed on the forth. check your pms for the test flac url. again if i try to play the fourth a couple more times it eventually will play. it doesn't seem to happen as often when you try to play it individually, put it in a playlist.

i'm right where you are at guys, i've got my entire music collection in flac too, who listens to crappy mp3s anyways!? :lol:

sometimes it playes the song, sometimes not. the same song playes and then if you try to play it later it won't. the player really gives me a hard time with full album files with cue sheets. they work once every tenth try, and the other normal files work once every third or so..

and the line "[flac @ 009eea3c] metadata block: flag = 0, type = 0, size = 34" gets echoed out in an endless loop. i had a hard time getting the log, since it filled the screenbuffer so quickly, and then all i got for log was that line a couple of 1000times...

it seams like a mplayer specific error to me... i looked at the xbmc sourceforge cvs, which had a comiled mplayer dll.. i guess i'll have to look at there cvs instead.. so you guys just use it without chaning anything to make it work with xbmc? i hope some of the mplayer dev look at your buglist from time to time, or that there are an exchange takeing place... since there are a few bug in mplayer found by xbmc users....
