Forcing View in a Plugin?

Is it possible to force a particular view for a particular list for a plugin and if so how.

No! Don't force anything, please!

Plugins should simply set the content type appropriately and let the skin offer the users the views that best fit that content type. The user can then pick which one they want to use.
