Xbox locks at XBOX screen after a fresh install of XBMC

I've been playing with XBMC for awhile using the PC version but figured I would break out the old xbox and get it up and running. I've done 2 fresh new installs but always experienced a problem in one shape or form (would lock at the xbmc screen, etc.)
This last time, I did a new install using version 5-21 and now the xbox won't boot past the XBOX logo.

Any ideas on how I can at least get the FTP server up and running? (I've already tried the dual thumbstick press with no luck)

Thanks for the info. I'll spend sometime this weekend to see if I can't get everything updated and working with AID.
