nexgen (http://http://www.xboxopensource.com/) is a very nice-looking dashboard, and it is gpl too.
would not give a merging of xbmc and a beautiful result?
can be that done with little effort?
not easily. xbmc already has an advanced skinning engine.
but more to the point why would you want to?
what's the point? pretty 3d graphics? xbmc is a media center, i want to to be able to access and play my media in a straight forward manner without having to navigate through pages of 3d graphics.
just my personal preference but i would hate it to look like yet another xbox dash. ease of use and an intuitive interface is far more important for a media center.
well, "easy" and "intuitive" don't disagree with "sleek".
look at the original dash. easy, intuitive, and hard rocking cool by the way ;)
