Are there any media NFO managers that are compatible with Linux? I'm on Ubuntu 9.04 and I've tried MIR and Media Companion with wine, but neither of them seem to work.

Has anyone gotten any of these types of programs working in Linux (natively or in wine)?

you might give this one a shot
Media Reader (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49370)

It's coded in Java and fully Linux compatible

Not sure if it would work but you can use the following to access ext3 drives from windows so if you had a dual boot you could probably run MIP in windows and still access your directories/media on the ext3 drive

Ye could allways to dual boot. But acer aspire revo ion lacks dvd/cdrom. And i guess u cant make a bootble vista from the usb drive and boot from that like u do with linux? I got a vista.img in my drive. But i guess i need to get an external drive and burn it. Bah those things are so ugly

But thx for the link X :)

That would have been good to know from the offset if that was the function you was after most, you asked for a similar program to MIP which that is

Do you have another PC running windows because you could probably do the same across your network ?

Run vista/xp in VirtualBox within linux. This can use image files as as the installation media.

Well my gf got a ancient laptop somewhere with takes 10 min to boot into Vista. Oh snap. Damn im tired today.

I keep forgetting i got my media on a external hdd. Even though the computer of hers is slow. I can easily disconnect the hdd and plug into heres computer. And use mip there. Damn im a dumbass

Sorry for this question but....
What is the purpose for this MEDIA INFO software in combination with XBMC?

It's the same that get media info and fanart from scrappers directly with XBMC, but externally?

Yes but its better as it does more, media flagging for example also all the information is stored locally ie with the media itself

does more? yeah, some of them adds placebo flags which isn't read by anything yet.

yafne's offer nothing besides a better interface to do manual edits

I thought flags were working in Aeon using the work around posted Here (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50138)
